Detroit Rock Band KALEIDO Reveal Horror-themed Music video for “RUN”

Share Top 10 Favorite Songs From Horror Movies

KALEIDO unleash their combustible and catchy signature blend of hard rock, pop punk and alternative music with a biting new single “Run” due this Friday, May 27 across digital platforms. The 2x Detroit Music Award-winning band have revealed a horror-movie inspired music video for the track which was premiered yesterday (5/25) via Metal Injection who described it as “catchy-as-hell” and lauded its “pretty huge” chorus. Watch the “Run” music video, directed by Tom Flynn (Lamb of God, All That Remains, Body Count), now via YouTube or streaming below. Pre-save/add “Run” on your preferred streaming platforms. To go along with the video’s haunting theme, KALEIDO shared a list of their “Top 10 Favorite Songs From Horror Movies” which can be found below.

“Every step of the process, from beginning to end, in creating the song and music video has been exhilarating,” shares unabashed frontwoman Christina Chriss. “From the moment we began writing ‘Run,’ riding high off the energy from just completing three months on the road touring, we knew there was something special and captivating about the song. We’re huge fans of all things horror and spooky, so we were in our element making the music video and it allowed us to bring our love of that world to life.”

KALEIDOChriss (vocals), Joey Fava (drums), Cody Morales (bass) and Drew Johnston (guitar)–will perform “Run” for the first time to hometown audiences this weekend with two shows: Friday, May 27 at Diesel Concert Theatre in Chesterfield, MI and Saturday, May 28 at The Music Factory in Battle Creek, MI. The band were last seen touring in fall and winter of last year as direct support for Sebastian Bach, who handpicked them after discovering them via YouTube. Previously the band has shared the stage with acts ranging from Aerosmith, Slash and Kid Rock to Butcher Babies, Halestorm, Twenty One Pilots and Rob Zombie in addition to appearances at Kiss Kruise Shiprocked!, SUMMERFEST and more.

KALEIDO shared a deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed breakthrough album EXPERIENCE in 2020 which debuted at #11 on Soundscan s “Top New Artists Albums” chart and earned the band various TV placements including promo spots for the MLB team, Pittsburgh Pirates. Its hit single “Die Tryin’” peaked at #22 on Billboard’s “Rock Indicator” charts and reeled in over 200k streams

KALEIDO’s “Top 10 Favorite Songs from Horror Movies”

“We all know the most famous horror themes of all time (Halloween, Jaws, The Exorcist, etc.) so we wanted to dig a little deeper and pick 10 of our favorite songs from horror movies. As huge horror fans, these songs stand out and have influenced us in our lives and in our music. While creating the music video for our new single ‘Run,’ many of these horror films served as inspiration for our own concept. We’ve grown up with most of these classic films and they’re not only nostalgic, but they also hold a special place in our dark, creepy little hearts.”

10. From Autumn to Ashes – “The After Dinner Payback” (Freddy vs Jason)

“This was one of the songs that turned us on to heavy music early on, and hearing it paired with the battle between two of the most iconic horror movie slashers of all time is super epic.”

9. Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Free Bird” (The Devil’s Rejects)

“Already one of the most well-known songs of all time, hearing it play during that final scene in The Devil’s Rejects brought it to a whole new level. Now every time we hear the song, we imagine that ending of the movie.”

8. Ramones – “Pet Semetery” (Pet Sematary)

“We love that the Ramones wrote the title track for the 1989 Steven King film adaptation of Pet Cemetery. This was one of the first scary movies we watched as kids, and it gave us nightmares!”

7. Huey Lewis And The News – “Hip To Be Square” (American Psycho)

“Patrick Bateman’s dialogue critiquing Huey Lewis, followed up by the brutal murder while the song plays, is easily one of the most horrifying yet hilarious horror movie scenes of all time.”

6. Luniz – “I Got 5 On It” (Us)

“The eerie synth line starting the song pairs perfectly with Jordan Peele’s story in ‘Us,’ and it’s really cool how he brings the song back in throughout the movie.”

5. Dokken – “Dream Warriors” (Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors)

“Another written-for-film song, Dream Warriors, is a classic 80’s hair metal banger. The title track, ‘Dream Warriors’ is also one of our favorite sequels in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The music video featuring Dokken flipping the script and haunting Freddy is pretty awesome as well.”

4.  Dream Widow – “Lacrimus dei Erbium” (Studio 666)

Studio 666 is one of our favorite new horror films and features one of our favorite bands, the Foo Fighters. Watching ‘evil’ Dave Grohl rip through the doomy guitar riff in the film was killer! We watched this movie not long before shooting our music video and it was really inspiring. RIP to the late, great, Taylor Hawkins.”

3. Blue Oyster Cult – “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” (Halloween [1978])

“Easily one of the greatest horror movie scores ever, John Carpenter’s Halloween is our most beloved horror film of all time. ‘The Reaper’ really sticks out, as it’s one of the only songs by a band in the entire movie.”

2. KISS – “God of Thunder” (Rob Zombie’s Halloween)

“As big fans of KISS, it was cool to hear this song playing in young Michael Myers’s room in Rob Zombie’s reimagining of Halloween. We grew up loving KISS, so it was pretty funny to see our favorite horror icon as a fan as well.”

1. Gerard McMahon – “Cry Little Sister” (The Lost Boys)

“The Lost Boys was a huge inspiration for us while creating our music video for ‘Run.’ We wanted to give a nod and pay homage to one of our favorite movies. The song ‘Cry Little Sister’ is synonymous with The Lost Boys, it’s a pairing of two classics and so universally loved.”

Starbenders Release New Single and Music Video “If You Need It”

Atlanta-based glam punk rockers Starbenders have dropped their new single If You Need It and the accompanying music video via Sumerian Records. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Kimi Shelter commented:

The band recorded ‘If You Need It’ during a very difficult time in our lives. The sands were shifting beneath our feet as we stood in the studio. The sentiment of the song is captured in the chorus, “I’ve got love if you need it, drugs to keep it even. I can’t take the pain.” It’s impossible to fix people and that doesn’t mean we didn’t love them enough or do enough. Pain is a dignity that we alone have to transmute. The result is a metallic clash between feathers and switchblades.”

Prior to today, Starbenders released their track “Seven White Horses”, as well as their deluxe album “Love Potions (Zodiac Deluxe)” which has five additional songs captured during the making of their full-length debut “Love Potions”, including a Celtic-tinged, mandolin-laced interpretation of their single “BITCHES BE WITCHES” along with a trip-hop, nineties inspired remix of “Push. LIVE REVIEW: NOTHING MORE NORTH AMERICA SPRING TOUR 2022

Multi Grammy nominated rock band Nothing More is in the midst of their North American spring of 2022 tour co-headlined with Asking Alexandria and supported by Atreyu and Eva Under Fire. Tour has almost reached the summit and on May 27th came to New Jersey where we were able to catch up with them.

Written by Andris Jansons

Texas band Nothing More is currently working on their new album scheduled to be release sometime later this year. They already have released their first single called Turn It Up Like.

More information about can be found in previous publication here.

Unfortunately, British band Asking Alexandria was forced to cancel nights performance due to lead singer Danny Worsnop getting cold and being advised by the doctors to give his vocal cords a rest. A lot of fans were upset including myself, but sometimes we tend to forget that artists are just a regular people like us and can get sick. We wish Danny speedy recovery!

However, for your viewing pleasure here are the pictures of Asking Alexandria and Danny from a show in New Jersey a few years back – see gallery here.

Well, the show must go on. Eva Under Fire and Atreyu did some extended sets. Nothing More’s Jonny Hawkins did a shout out to Danny, wishing him well, as he had some health troubles on this tour himself too.

Of course, waiting for the band to perform is not easy, but watching the Nothing More’s set to be completed is a show on its own. For like five years, band has been employing a monster during their live shows. They call it The Scorpion Tail. Its concoction created from scrap metal, spare automotive and motorcycle parts by bands bassist Daniel Oliver, and personally I think that it perfectly personifies bands vocalist Jonny Hawkins eccentric on stage persona. I can’t imagine Nothing More and Jonny without it. Setting everything up takes some time, but it’s totally worth it and just adds to an excitement to see the bands hit the stage and use it.

See full gallery of Nothing More performance here.

Nothing More came out with a bang – literally. Nice and calm suddenly became bat shit crazy. Their new banger Turn It Up Like blew the roof of The Wellmont Theatre in Montclair. Energy the band brought into the nights show was totally immense. Jonny who looks and acts like a twin brother of Jim Morrison from The Doors and Zack de la Rocha from Rage Against The Machine provided all the theatrics and acrobatics you came to expect and take for granted.

Their set included Let’em Burn, Do You Really Want It?, Tired Of Winning and other hits. The energy flowed through the set and fed the fans with all the positive emotions such a performance can give. The tour will continue until June 19th through United States in the cities listed below. It is a must see show!

96 Bitter Beings (Ex-CKY) Join Nuclear Blast & Announce Tour

Revered Los Angeles rock band 96 BITTER BEINGS has officially joined Nuclear Blast! Formed in 2016 by ex-CKY founder, vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Deron Miller, the band plans to release, “Synergy Restored,” their long-awaited follow-up to 2018’s widely praised debut “Camp Pain,” later this year. In the meantime, they’ll be hitting the road with HOWLING GIANT this summer performing their first shows in years.

Commenting on the signing to Nuclear Blast, Miller states:

“Nuclear Blast has always been the most personable label I’ve ever worked with. They stuck around and persevered through all of the hard times that hit heavy rock and metal over the years. They’re still here because they always put their love of what they do ahead of scrounging around frantically to make a quick buck. I have 27 years behind me working with various labels, major and independent, and they’re all gone. The people are gone. Nuclear has been the  only constant. Passion, perseverance and refusing defeat are the keys to longevity in anything you do, so that makes us the perfect match. The band and I are thrilled to be working with rock and metal heads I’ve known and respected for decades… Still just as hungry, ambitious and excited to see what the future holds as we are.”

About 96 BITTER BEINGS:

Deron Miller gives his life to the riff. Unrestrained by industry expectations and genre limitations, the boundlessly prolific guitarist and voice behind multiple beloved projects is best known as the founder, frontman, and songwriter in CKY. His authentic and effortlessly hooky heavy rock obsession returns with 96 BITTER BEINGS. Reinvigorated and ready to rumble all over again, Miller roars back with the same reverence for riffage that made underground hits out of CKY anthems like “Flesh Into Gear,” “Escape from Hellview,” and “Disengage the Simulator” from 1998 till 2011.

The familiar warmth, feel, groove, and unapologetic honesty which drove the song “96 Quite Bitter Beings” to 54 million streams (on Spotify alone) permeates the pair of albums unleashed by 96BB.

A successful crowdfunding campaign saw Miller, guitarist Kenneth Hunter, bassist Shaun Luera and Shaun’s brother, drummer Tim, conjure up 2018’s “Camp Pain” in limited release. North American touring followed, wrapping up shortly before the COVID-19 shutdowns.

After CKY and a short break, I decided to continue, without changing the sound,” Miller explains. “Because that’s what I do. It’s what I love to do and what people say I do well. All of the guys who got in the band with me are great musicians. And each of them is hungry. They have priorities and ambitions about being in a rock band, no matter the grim state of pop music out there. If we can bring rock and metal back to the mainstream, in some way, that’s the dream.
