UK grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH release their new mini-album Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes today via Century Media Records. To celebrate the release of the mini-album, the band have released a visualizer video created by Chariot Of Black Moth for the record’s experimental final track “Resentment is Always Seismic (Dark Sky Burial Dirge)”.

“Narcissus”, the furious opening track of the Mini-Album, can be viewed, HERE.

Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes is a partner recording to NAPALM DEATH’s latest, much acclaimed Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism album from 2020, concluding matters through vital, tumultuous grindcore and shockwave ambience.

You can certainly consider “Resentment Is Always…” as an extension of – or partner recording to – the “Throes…” album. We had long since wanted to put a mini-album out – in the spirit of the old days – and found we had enough quality tracks even after all the “Throes…” bonus tracks to do that. Hopefully this mini holds some nice twists in its own right for people, and certainly covering “People Pie” by Slab! made us really stretch ourselves, which feels great artistically. In the end, resentment is certainly seismic – it can trigger the complete erosion of humanity in many situations. That was the point that I really wanted to hammer home overall,” states NAPALM DEATH frontman Mark “Barney” Greenway.

The 8-track mini-album Resentment is Always Seismic – a final throw of Throes is available as ltd. CD digipak, vinyl as well as in a digital album format.

NAPALM DEATH recently announced massive updates to their upcoming worldwide touring schedule, including dates across the UK starting next month, a return to North America together with Arch Enemy and Behemoth in April/May as well as the postponement of the group’s “Campaign For Musical Destruction” tour across Europe to February/March 2023 (Its revised line-up will be announced soon!). Below is an overview of all upcoming NAPALM DEATH live-appearances announced so far.

NAPALM DEATH’s latest and much lauded 16th studio album Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism (2020), which was recorded with longtime producer Russ Russell and features artwork by Frode Sylthe, entered international sales charts upon release as follows: Germany: #8, Austria: #37, Switzerland: #26, Finland: #35, Belgium: #88, Spain: #78, France: #120, UK (Rock Chart): #3 and USA: #58 Billboard Top Albums. Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism, which is still available to purchase in various formats, HERE.

LA goth-pop power duo The Haxans release their new track and music video for “All The Roses” today. Watch the music video, HERE, and stream and purchase the track, HERE.

“’All The Roses’ is one of those songs that invokes a feeling within upon hearing its very first note. It immediately made me feel scorned, vengeful, devious and almost evil in just a few heavy strums of the opening riff,” states Ash Costello.

We did most of our recording in Pasadena California, “The Rose City” for several years. I became obsessed with Roses and taking pictures of them everyday on my walks around the neighborhood. I found them, their symbolism, and their parallel to the fragility to human relationships endlessly fascinating. So, learn to enjoy the pure beauty while it’s in front of you because nothing lasts forever.  The song was one of those that wrote itself in 15 mins. I barely remember trying to play or write anything in the song, it just happened. It came through me from somewhere else. Unlike a lot of our songs, we didn’t change one note or word. I think Ash only sang it once. So, it’s all exactly as it landed on earth. Unspoiled by fertilizer,” states Matt “Count D” Montgomery.

Costello adds about the music video, “Our goal was to create a visual that embodied those natural feelings in the song. It’s very fun to play with the mythology of the band and explore where we might have been in a past life and all of the trouble we caused!”

“The video explores the idea that the band and our spirits existed in different moments in time. Which I find really fun in a “Twilight Zone” kind of way,” adds Montgomery.

The Haxans will also be appearing at The Nosferatu Festival in Austin Texas on March 5th, followed by a U.S. tour this Spring opening for John 5. For more information and to purchase tickets, click HERE.

A Goth-pop duo, decked out in creep kitsch high fashion and named after a silent film from the twenties about a 15th century German guide to hunting witches, The Haxans sound exactly like everything those images conjure. It’s the psycho-saccharine music of a friendish creep’s fever dream… Classic art-house cinema, b-movie horror, spooky decadence, vintage American myth, and black roses dripping with blood are all tossed in The Haxans cauldron, like so many ingredients from a well-worn book of spells.

The Haxans are Ash Costello, subcultural style icon and leader of New Years Day, a seeming heir-apparent to the glory days of My Chemical Romance and AFI; and Matt Montomery, better known by his alias Piggy D, bassist for over a decade with multi-platinum shock rocker Rob Zombie, guitarist with horror punks Wednesday 13, and sometimes visual and musical collaborator with rock icon Alice Cooper. The Haxans isn’t a side project. It’s the irrepressible, irresistible, and inevitable exorcism of the party-centric Halloween costume shop kicking around inside the brains and bodies of the group’s two co-conspirators

ONI Drop Official Lyric Video For New Track THE LIE

Progressive metalcore outfit, ONI, have today kicked off a brand new chapter with the release of ferocious new single, “The Lie”, via Ironshore Records. The track marks the first new music from Jake Oni, ONI‘s frontman and creative mastermind, since the band’s 2019 standout single, “Alone” and their highly acclaimed 2016 debut album, Ironshore (Metal Blade). The new track was co-produced by Jake’s musical ally and good friend, Lamb Of God axe-man, Mark Morton, together with renowned producer Josh Wilbur (Megadeth, Trivium, Gojira).

Jake and Mark previously collaborated on the latter’s debut solo album, Anaesthetic, with Jake executive producing and co-writing the collection’s #6 Active Rock track, ‘Cross Off’ with Morton, Wilbur and the late Chester Bennington.

Speaking about the brand new song, Jake Oni shares;

“I’m really proud and excited to release “The Lie” – our first new song in over 2 years. I wrote this one with Mark Morton and Josh Wilbur and it was one of those songs that kind of wrote itself. I’ve been working really hard over the last year and can’t wait to start releasing new music for everyone. “The Lie” felt like the best track to kick off the next chapter of ONI.”

In modern times, the demonic ONI figure of Japanese Folklore transformed into a personification of protection, often adorning rooftops or leading festive parades to ward off evil. In this same spirit, the crushing aggressive music of ONI, the band, acts as an empowering weapon. ONI casts out the cruel demons of self-hatred, addiction, and whatever destructive obstacles one might face.

The band Metal Injection described as “key figures in paving the way for a new wave of progressive metalcore,” is led by frontman Jake Oni, who summons cathartic anthems from personal pain. In 2014, Jake first conceived of ONI as “the band I never got to see,” recruiting different players with technical skills to make music that shook the foundations of the scene. Comparisons to genre heavyweights like Meshuggah, Between The Buried And Me, and Protest The Hero came swiftly.

ONI released Ironshore on Metal Blade Records in 2016, heralded by No Clean Singing as “maybe the most impressive debut I’ve heard this year.” Songs like “The Only Cure,” “Barn Burner,” and “Eternal Recurrence” whipped audiences into a frenzy as ONI traveled the globe. The band shared club and festival stages with Gojira, Turnstile, Code Orange, and Rob Zombie, among others.

ONI’s 2019 single “Alone” racked up over 1.3M spins on Spotify alone. In 2022, ONI returns with a sophomore album boasting an even bigger sound than before. ONI‘s new music has been co-produced by Josh Wilbur (Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Megadeth) and Lamb Of God guitarist, Mark Morton.

Digression Assassins newest release Sagas

Swedish band Digression Assassins recently released their latest album called “Sagas”. You can listen to it here.

The purpose of the Digression Assassins has always been to convey a musical statement from heart. To not let genres or musical limitations hinder the expression. To be open to new influences and impressions. Or in other words – try to avoid following the flock because if you do – you will step in shit!

Digression Assassins started out in 2005 the musical journey has taken the band from performing chaos-hardcore, which can be heard on releases like “Omega” and “Alpha” to a bit less chaotic progressive metal, with “Oblivion” and “Merkaba”, to a more melodic approach on song writing which can be heard on the latest release “Sagas”.

” They have succeeded in creating something genuinely original and utterly wonderful. Demented genius, for open minded rock fans”

Same principle, same philosophy – ever changing sound!

Death metal/grindcore veterans MISERY INDEX announces The Space Control Tour 2022 with Origin today. The North American tour includes support from Wolf King and additional special guests throughout the Spring run, which start on May 6th in Chicago and wrap on May 22nd in Austin. For more information and to purchase tickets, which go on-sale Friday, February 11th at 12PM ET, visit MISERY INDEX’s website HERE.

“Only on rare occasion do the stars align to deliver a ripping assault of such extraordinary magnitude. Get your tickets, come out with your friends, and get blasted to bits,” states MISERY INDEX about the forthcoming North American tour.

MISERY INDEX recently announced their signing to Century Media Records and are thrilled to add to their legacy at their new label home. The band have established themselves as a stronghold for outspoken, politically charged lyrics and savage yet surgically precise metal. They have released six studio albums, several EPs and have performed well over 1.000 concerts in 44 countries to date. Stay tuned for more news on MISERY INDEX in the next few weeks.

When their debut EP, Overthrow, was recorded in 2001 by vocalist and bassist Jason Netherton (ex-DYING FETUS) together with (then) guitarist and vocalist Mike Harrison and drummer Kevin Talley (ex-DYING FETUS), MISERY INDEX immediately charted a course to explore and push the limits of Death Metal and Grindcore, drawing influence from bands like MORBID ANGEL, NAPALM DEATH, TERRORIZER, BOLT THROWER and ENTOMBED. The erstwhile project shifted to a full-time band when guitarist Sparky Voyles (ex-DYING FETUS) joined. In 2003, MISERY INDEX unleashed their first full-length Retaliate, to exceptional reviews and followed by numerous support tours and festivals in Europe and North America. After several line-up changes, the second album Discordia was released in 2006, the first to feature current drummer Adam Jarvis and guitarist/vocalist Mark Kloeppel, with even more touring in its wake. Their third full-length, Traitors (2008) reaped raving reactions from both critics and fans and saw the band on the road again until 2009. Then MISERY INDEX dropped Heirs to Thievery (2010) like a bomb on the death metal masses, shattering all expectations. The album was both a commercial and critical success, elevating the band to headlining slots. During that year, long time guitarist Sparky Voyles was replaced by Darin Morris. In 2013, the band released its first live album, Live in Munich, which perfectly epitomized the rawness and ferocity that MISERY INDEX elevated onto a new level with their fifth full length The Killing Gods in 2014.

In 2019, MISERY INDEX released Rituals of Power and proved once again that the group is as furious as ever. Featuring the singles “New Salem”, “Naysayer, “The Choir Invisible” and “Hammering the Nails” the album was the band’s highest charting and best-selling release to date. Last year, the band did an EU headlining tour with support from Wormrot and then a US tour with Nails in the summer. At this time, they also released the single “Zombie Prescription” (Snapcase cover) via New Noise magazine’s flexi series. In February 2020, the band hit the EU again on the month long “Campaign for Musical Destruction” in support of Napalm Death, along with EyehategodRotten Sound and Bat.

MISERY INDEX is Darin Morris (guitar), Mark Kloeppel (guitar, vocals), Adam Jarvis (drums), and Jason Netherton (bass, vocals).

Swedish black metal masters DARK FUNERAL release the second single, “Nightfall”, from their highly anticipated seventh album We Are The Apocalypse, which will be released on March 18th, 2022 via Century Media Records. While the first single “Let The Devil In” was an introvert journey, contemplating the darkness within, “Nightfall” is the diametral opposite. “Nightfall” is a display of blistering fury, invoking the seven witches, Lamashtu, to bring forth the eternal night. Watch the video, filmed, directed and edited by Grupa13, HERE.

“With ‘Nightfall’, we continue to push the boundaries and go faster than anything we have ever done before. I wanted to create the feeling of levitating above the soundscape and into my own dark and twisted world. At this speed, it was also a challenge to find a good balance and dynamic where melodies and atmosphere did not disappear in a noise, but I think we really nailed it! Nightfall gives epic a whole new meaning. Enjoy,” Lord Ahriman states about the track.

Heljarmadr adds, “Sometimes I am quite glad that I am not a drummer. I think Jalomaah outdid himself here and it was like standing in a wind tunnel when we recorded it in the studio. But through all the high tempo hammering shines great detail and I think this song has a lot of dynamics. I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing the crowd chant “Nightfall” the day we bring it to the stage.”

On March 18thDARK FUNERAL will release their long-awaited seventh full-length album We Are The Apocalypse(@centurymediarecords / Sony Music Sweden). On the same day, the band invites all fans to the Sound Pollution Store in Stockholm for a signing session and meet and greet. The following day, March 19th, they will be in Gothenburg and Bengan’s Record Store to do the same.

Pre-orders for We Are The Apocalypse are available now. Listen to “Nightfall” and “Let The Devil In” on all streaming platforms, HERE.

Bones at The Gramercy Theatre on November 12th, 2018

Photography and article all rights reserved by Andris Jansons

It’s not every night you hear a lady yell at you “get ready to get boned”… but that is exactly what lead singer Rosie Bones, from British born, female duo, rock band Bones declared to the audience right after ‘Happy’, the opening song of their set. She said that shortly after taking a sip from her whiskey flask. What a character!

Bones are currently on tour, supporting American fashion-art rock band Palaye Royale. On November 12th they made a stop, for a sold out show, in New York City’s Gramercy Theatre. Bones started out in London, UK but now call LA their residence!

Bones are stylish, provocative and ultra-talented and although, as of now, they have no record released, they still have a decent amount of songs for a set. Their most popular with the public seemed to be single ‘Beautiful Is Boring’ and the David Bowie cover ‘I’m Afraid Of Americans’. Rosie sings with a devilish style, she like toying with the audience while delivering lyrics that give a middle finger to the sky. Carmen Vandenberg is simply amazing on guitar, delivering solos like a seasoned rock star. They incorporate Blues, Alternative & Indie Rock in their style of playing and have defined themselves as ‘Future Rock’. Both ladies have a great chemistry on stage and it’s simply a matter of the time until Bones hit the big time!
