We Came As Romans Announce 2023 US Headline with Emmure, Bodysnatcher, and Archetypes Collide

After a completely sold-out first leg, metalcore legends We Came As Romans have now announced their return to the road with the ‘Darkbloom II Headline Tour’, a mammoth 30-date run with support from Emmure, Bodysnatcher, and Archetypes Collide. The tour will kick off on October 10th, 2023 in Indianapolis and make its way throughout the USA, culminating in Nashville, TN on November 19th, 2023. Tickets go on general sale this Friday (August 25th) at 10am local time from iamdarkbloom.com Full routing below.

Speaking on news, vocalist Dave Stephens shares:

After selling out every show of Darkbloom part one earlier this year and seeing the demand for the tour, we wanted to bring it to some of the cities we weren’t able to play. We have worked hard to brainstorm a line up that showcases the diversity of heavy music from Archetypes Collide to Bodysnatcher to Emmure. We have toured with Emmure more times than I can count, but this time will be one of the most exciting for us as it will be their first since late 2019.

Since the release of their milestone debut album, 2009’s To Plant a Seed, diehard fans depend on We Came As Romans to deliver intimate, confessional, and autobiographical anthems, each one challenging, triumphant, and passionate. Darkbloom is a bright light in the darkness with the strength of every WCAR album before it. Singer David Stephens, guitarist Joshua Moore, bassist Andy Glass, guitarist Lou Cotton, and drummer David Puckett usher in an ambitious, courageous new era, while honoring the legacy and memory of their fallen bandmate,co-vocalist and keyboardist Kyle Pavone.

We Came As Romans’ initial ascent was quick and assured, catapulting the band (who met as teens) into the hearts of devoted fans immersed in the metalcore, post-hardcore, and Warped Tour subculture. Their hook-filled heavy music carries an uplifting message and connects with even greater urgency live. The increasingly diverse catalog of metallic might, melodic strength, and electronic atmosphere soars in clubs, theaters, and fests. They’ve supported tastemaker acts like Bring Me The Horizon, I Prevail, Bullet For My Valentine, and The Used.

Conquering a myriad of impressive milestones since their formation – including topping Billboard’s Independent Albums chart, and accumulating over 500 million catalog streams worldwide – WCAR have no intention of slowing down anytime soon.

As is customary for We Came As Romans, they finished off their first tour of 2023 in Detroit, MI. They were out promoting their newest release, Darkbloom. In their first tour of the year they brought along ERRA and Brand of Sacrifice.

Written by Jessica Trail

The first band of the night was Brand of Sacrifice. They are a deathcore band with a dash of technical metal from Toronto and Manhattan, New York.  They started out their brutal seven-song set with “Dawn” from their album Lifeblood. They are made-up of Kyle Anderson on harsh and clean vocals, Liam Beeson on guitar, Andrew Kim on bass, and Mike Caputo on drums. They continued playing songs from the 2021 album and then stirred up the already enthusiastic crowd with the 2022 single “Exodus.”  They closed out the set with opening track from their 2018 album The Interstice. This was a great ending to a ferocious set.

Up next was the metalcore band, ERRA, from Birmingham, Alabama. They started the night with the very popular single, “Pull from the Ghost.” The moshing and crowd-surfing starting as soon as they started playing. By the time their second song, “House of Glass” started there was a steady stream of crowd surfers pouring over the barricade. To say that the crowd was into ERRA would me a massive understatement.

ERRA is made up of JT Cavey on harsh vocals, Jesse Cash on lead guitar and clean vocals, Conor Hesse on bass, Clint Tustin on rhythm guitar, and Alex Ballew on drums. These guys have a big year ahead of them still with heading out on their own headlining Europe tour just 6 days after ending the tour with We Came As Romans. They will then head out with Bad Omens to support their Will We Both Go Home Alive tour starting in May.

After a short pause for changeover, it was time for the headliner, We Came As Romans, to take the stage. After 23 shows in 31 days the band, from Troy, Michigan, had finally made it to their hometown for the last show of the tour. They started the night with three songs from their newest album, Darkbloom. They continued with “Lost in the Moment” from the 2017 album, Cold Like War. Before starting in on “Wasted Ages” from the same album they took a pause to talk to the audience. “Somewhere along the way on that record, we lost track of who we were as a band…. We reached out to people who we knew we could trust. People who had been there for us since day one… for a band that is our fan base. You guys helped us start to put the pieces back together… I just wanted to say thank you for that!”

Before starting “Tracing Back Roots” from the album of the same name, they let the audience know that they opened up an online poll for the audience to pick a song for the set. After that song and “Hope,” from the Tracing Back Roots album singer, Dave Stephens announced that “Fade Away” won the poll. He continued with saying, “this song goes out to my mom. It is her favorite.” They then continued the night with one more song from Cold Like War. They then closed out the main portion of the set with “Darkbloom” before coming back out with Brand of Sacrifice to perform “Darkbloom” again as an encore before ending the night and tour with “Black Hole.”

We Came As Romans Unleash New Single and Music Video “Golden”

From Upcoming New Album ‘Darkbloom’ Out October 14

Metalcore legends We Came As Romans have today released their latest track and accompanying music video Golden. The track is taken from the band’s long-awaited forthcoming album ‘Darkbloom’ set for release on Friday, October 14 via Sharptone Records (pre-save here). A very special run of vinyl (limited to only 1000) featuring an exclusive layout with a 10-page booklet is available now from iamdarkbloom.com. Speaking on today’s release, guitarist Joshua Moore shares:

“‘Golden’ is a song that’s really close to our hearts. I wrote the verse lyrics about the day that Kyle passed, that morning when we got the call, and the emotion we felt. Kyle was such a bright light in our lives, and it felt like that light was gone without him. This song was about dealing with those feelings and trying to find a way through this new darkness we all felt completely lost in.

Prior to today, We Came As Romans released their music video for the album title track Darkbloom, “Darkbloom (Reimagined)” featuring deathcore innovators Brand Of Sacrifice, and the visualizer for “Plagued”. Watch the music video for Golden  below and stream the track here.

We Came as Romans, one of the metalcore / post-hardcore staples, are poise to release their sixth studio album called Darkbloom on October 14th. This will be the bands first one after the untimely passing of bands member Kyle Pavone in 2018.  Currently band started tour with August Burns Red and Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey was their second stop.

Written by Andris Jansons

We Came As Romans (abbreviated as WCAR) are known for their aggressive music with melodic passages, and they know how to bring on the heat at live show. Band did not waste their time with their set and opened with their eponymous single from their upcoming album Darkbloom. The album is full of emotions that band was undergoing after Kyle’s passing, and song contains all spectrum of those emotions, it was a perfect way for them to start of the night. They followed with Wasted Age from previous record Cold Like War, and then turned back to the new material with Daggers. Both new songs Darkbloom and Daggers are released as singles. While reached exclamation point on Daggers performance bands vocalist Dave Stephens jumped onto the barricade and with some help of the fans he stood up and finished singing together with crowd. It was unbelievable experience for many front row people.

Their set contained two more songs from upcoming album – Plagued and Black Hole. These two also are released as singles and fans already had a plenty of familiarity with them to sing along. Cold Like War was also widely represented this night as three more songs were played from it – Learning To Survive, Lost In The Moment and Cold Like War.

Whole set was full of energy and excitement as fans start to truly appreciate the new music from the band. From the people that really stood out I must note bass player Andy Glass, his energy was unrivaled during this performance. He managed to do most amazing acrobatics and did not miss a single beat in the process!!!

WCAR still has more than thirty dates coming up on this tour through United States before they will join forces with Architects later in the Fall.
