FALLUJAH Reveal Visualizer For “Mindless Omnipotent Master”

Bay Area masters of atmospheric technical death metal FALLUJAH have unleashed their monumental 5th studio album, “Empyrean,” today with Nuclear Blast. Receiving rave reviews from critics around the world and legions of fans championing their return, FALLUJAH has emerged with one of their best records to date. On their latest epic journey the band explores new sonic realms while revisiting past influences and styles, captivating listeners along the way with Scott Carstairs‘ massive riffs and guitar wizardry and new recruit Kyle Schaefer’sseething vocals. Strap in and witness a cataclysmic collision of atmospheric death metal.

Primary songwriter and guitarist Scott Carstairs says of the song:

‘Mindless Omnipotent Master’ is about the massive, globally-linked systems of technology and society that were created for humankind’s own benefit, but have now grown into self-sustained forces beyond our control. The music sets an appropriately dark tone with four minutes of relentlessly brutal riffs and mechanically sharp precision.

Carstairs adds about the album’s release:

“It feels surreal to finally share our new album Empyrean with the world! We can hardly describe the amount of effort, determination and patience it took to arrive at this point, but now that the day is here we can finally say that everything was worth it.

Special shoutouts to the fans who have stuck with us for all these years. We hope Empyrean can take you on an immersive journey with enough detail to warrant many repeated listens.”

About FALLUJAH:
Tech-metal outfit Fallujah intensify their metallic dynamism on stunning new album, “Empyrean.” Built on an “all killer, no filler” maxim, the Bay Area-based quartet delivered just that on album number five. From video single “Radiant Ascension” and “Embrace Oblivion” to “Soulbreaker” and “Mindless Omnipotent Master,” “Empyrean” is breathtaking in atmospheric expanse and impressive in sophistication. Fallujah’s overhauled lineup has contributed massively to the level-up on display. Primary songwriter/guitarist Scott Carstairs and compeer/drummer Andrew Baird enlisted Archaeologist’s Kyle Schaefer and Evan Brewer (formerly Entheos/The Faceless) as their new vocalist and bassist, respectively.

Since forming in 2007, Fallujah have triumphed over their challenges. Whether it’s self-administering the band, going to school, writing music, or working full-time, they’ve savored release of and diehard fan admiration for five albums in “The Harvest Wombs” (2011), “The Flesh Prevails” (2014), “Dreamless” (2016), “Undying Light” (2019), and their latest “Empyrean.” Indeed, diligence and creative enterprise have resulted in high-profile tours with Whitechapel, Suffocation, The Black Dahlia Murder, and more across North America, Europe, and Australia. Fallujah also prospered with critics in Metal Hammer, Allmusic and Metalsucks. The group’s Billboard chart positions on the Top Hard Rock Albums and Heatseekers Albums prove that with every twist and turn, Fallujah’s fans are with them. “Empyrean,” with its revivalist spikes, bolstered atmospherics and high-powered production, is the greatest yet.

Empyrean” is a specialist’s paradise. As a rhythm/lead player, Carstairs enters a league of his own. Tracks like “The Bitter Taste of Clarity,” “Radiant Ascension,” and “Eden’s Lament” illustrate he’s upped his chops and boosted the emotional outlay. Throughout, he’s careful about compositional placement and how his radiant, palliative leads complement Fallujah’s sapid landscape. Drummer Baird tastefully and aggressively holds down the fort, grooving and syncopating admirably on “Radiant Ascension,” “Embrace Oblivion,” and “Mindless Omnipotent Master.” Fallujah’s long-standing timekeeper has always been great, but on “Empyrean,” he’s superior. Right there with him is recently joined bassist Evan Brewer, thundering and bopping on, around, and against Baird’s foundation like a seasoned prizefighter. “Duality of Intent” is but one of Brewer’s standouts. Although known for his guitar work outside of Fallujah, newcomer vocalist Kyle Schaefer’s low-end and mid-range bark perfectly matches the existential threat-themed lyrics.

Throughout “Empyrean,” Fallujah surprise. Musically, lyrically, and with their bevy of guests, they add hard-to-describe depth and musical import. Vocalist Tori Letzler (Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice) reprises her angelic role on “Radiant Ascension” and “Artifacts,” while Chiasma’s Katie Thompson also reappears to elevate “Embrace Oblivion” and “Into the Eventide.” Chaney Crabb of Entheos and Cyborg Octopus’s David Wu tender their considerable talents on “Mindless Omnipotent Master” and “Duality of Intent,” respectively. Celebrated artist Peter Mohrbacher (Serenity in Murder, Rainbowdragoneyes) replays his role on “Empyrean” as well. Truly, this is an all-star cast appearing on a momentous album by a band reaching beyond.

From the beginning of this writing process and until the end, we painstakingly made sure every aspect of this record would blow away our listeners,” states Carstairs. “We meticulously scrutinized every riff and note choice. There has never been this much effort put into a Fallujah record as we did with ‘Empyrean,’ and the result is a truly monstrous record that we believe is the band’s best work by a significant margin. We showed you restraint on the last record. Now, let us show you what happens when we leave it all on the table.

ANTHEA Shares New Video “Empyrean”

Los Angeles symphonic prog metallers ANTHEA will be releasing their sophomore album “Tales Untold” via Rockshots Records this coming August to follow their 2020 debut “Illusion”. Last month they unveiled their first single and title track with a music video.

The band adds about the track:

“One of the heavier songs on the album, Empyrean is an inspirational piece about overcoming the obstacles in your path and making your dreams come true. Something that we ourselves relate to from playing in the backyards of East LA and Compton as teenagers, to what Anthea has become and where we’re going.”

For the new album “Tales Untold”, Anthea has taken the reigns for a more DIY approach with vocalist Diego Valadez taking over also as the full-length’s producer along with bassist Eric “EJ” Guerrero in charge of music videos and photography.

“We released our debut album in 2020, but were, unfortunately, like everyone else, unable to tour or play live gigs. However, this gave us a lot of extra time to really craft this follow-up album into something special. Tales Untold was written and recorded throughout 2021 and I am so proud of the end result.” adds Valadez.

Fans of Anthea‘s first album “Illusion” will enjoy this one even more. The difference with this next record is that Anthea has a more mature sound and has carefully thought out the ebb and flow throughout it. Their end goal is to give a very dynamic and cinematic album in which the listener feels as though they’ve gone through a grand musical journey once they’ve reached the end.

Anthea is a melodic, symphonic metal band from Los Angeles, CA. With influences from bands like Nightwish, Kamelot, and Wintersun, as well as scores from composers such as Hans Zimmer, John Williams, and Danny Elfman, the band create a unique theatrical sound blending progressive, power, and thrash metal elements, with a grand, cinematic edge.

“Tales Untold” is due out on August 26, 2022.

Track Listing:
1. Tales Untold – 4:09
2. Ascendence – 3:21
3. Song for Winter – 4:03
4. The Deceiver – 5:11
5. Sapiens – 5:29
6. Memoriam – 4:13
7. Looking Glass – 4:15
8. Empyrean – 4:02
9. Sunder Heart – 4:53
10. In Time – 5:33

FALLUJAH will make their heavily awaited return this fall wit their new album, “Empyrean,” that’s due out September 9th from Nuclear Blast, The band emerges, post-pandemic, revitalized as they explore new sonic realms and revisit elements of style executed on early records. With an overhauled lineup that includes primary songwriter/guitarist Scott Carstairs and compeer/drummer Andrew Baird and newly added vocalist Kyle Schaefer (Archaeologist) and bassist Evan Brewer (formerly Entheos/The Faceless), FALLUJAH are at a creative peak that’s nearly unmatched in modern death metal.

FALLUJAH Roars Back With a new Record “Empyrean” due out Sept 9th

New Single “Radiant Ascension” Out Now

Fifteen years into their career, San Francisco technical death metal giants FALLUJAH have never sounded more vital or intense. On their stunning 5th album, “Empyrean,” that’s due out September 9th from Nuclear Blast, the band emerges revitalized as they explore new sonic realms and revisit elements of style executed on early records.

Commenting on “Empyrean,” Carstairs says:

“After such an experimental expression [with ‘Undying Light’], we sat down to write ‘Empyrean’ completely refreshed and inspired, It was like the musical tension of the last decade had been released, and we were ready to achieve goals the band had originally set out for. ‘Empyrean’ is truly a return to form because we are doing what comes naturally to us, but with an intensity that we haven’t achieved in the past. We set out to create something that represents the band and its history in its purest form while also pushing our technical abilities further than we have ever gone.

Every Fallujah album has been a reflection of whatever ideas felt the freshest and exciting to us at that particular point in time. We’ve developed our own defined sound over the years, but on this album, our new members helped bring in some new perspectives. We incorporated new elements such as counterpoint and tempo changes but maintained elements integral to the band and even brought back techniques used in older records. At this point, it’s all about elegantly presenting the sound we have cultivated over the last decade.”

This spring, Nuclear Blast labelmates FALLUJAH and ALLUVIAL will join death metal giants RIVERS OF NIHIL for the U.S. leg of their “Terrestria World Tour,” with additional support from WARFORGED, HYPOCRISY, THE ZENITH PASSAGE and BURIAL IN THE SKY. The tour will embark on May 6th in Brooklyn and will culminate on June 5th in Pittsburgh.
