Pop Evil headed out on their Skeletons Tour headlining U.S. dates that started on March 17, 2023, in Sault St. Marie at Kewadin Casino and will be concluding on April 23, 2023, in Milwaukee at The Rave. This tour is in support of their latest and seventh studio album Skeletons. Pop Evil Tours with special guests, The Word Alive and Avoid. Last Sunday bands came to Jersey City’s historic building The White Eagle Hall that is renovated into a live music venue.

First on the night was the band that is exploding out of Seattle called Avoid. They hit hard and heavy. The crowd was given no chance to warm up and the band’s vocalist Benny Scholl’s constant summoning of mosh pit did not go unanswered. Crowd surfers were landing right on the stage as the venue does not have barricade, and lucky ones earned some high five from bands. Matter of the fact it was his birthday that night, and the crowd sang him the birthday song and he had a proper drink on stage. The band has a recent album out that is called Cult Mentality.

Second on the bill where American Metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona called The Word Alive. Fronted by enigmatic Tyler Smith, also known by his nickname Telle, who can do wide vocal range and is able to comprehensively alternate between melodic and screamed vocals. Band played decent set of ten songs and made sure to touch most of their previously released albums. There was also Kanye West cover of Heartless, and though the song is not my cup of tea, I believe The Word Alive did a good job on remaking it into a metal song. Band also performed their brand new single New Reality, and Telle found out that already all fans know how to sing a long to this song. He seemed very pleasantly surprised about that. Of course, the biggest hits were left for last, as band rounded up their set with such hit songs as – Life Cycles, Why Am I Like This? and Trapped.

The night’s main attraction Pop Evil hit the stage with their hit single Paranoid (Crash & Burn) taken from latest release Skeletons. Tremendous energy kept flowing from one song to the next. Skeletons album was the most represented with six songs. Altogether the 11 tracks on the album include the “Eye of the Storm,” which landed at the #5 Most Played Song in 2022 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart, and recent singles, “Paranoid (Crash & Burn),” and, “Dead Reckoning (Ft. Fit For A King).” The album also includes guest performers such as Blake Allison from Devour the Day providing guest vocals on “Wrong Direction,” adding some metal, electronic, and hip-hop into Pop Evil’s mix. All new songs perfectly mixed up with the bands earlier works underscoring the bands hard hitting yet rhythmic style.
Other albums represented during the set were Versatile, Onyx, Pop Evil and Up. Onyx had two biggest hits in the bands encore – Torn To Pieces and Trenches. They rounded up the night with Breathe Again.
The band’s performance was full of energy and impeccable. The place was rocking, and I mean literally, every time bands vocalist Leigh Kakaty implied for fans to jump, the force of the jump reverberated through the whole building. It was incredible experience for all hard rock fans that night.

“The decisions we make in our lifetime have an impact on the people around us,” Pop Evil said about the title track. “We have a choice to be kind or to be selfish on our journey. If you only think of yourself, you can end up alone. We owe it to each other to be kind. We are all human.”
The 11 tracks include the already released single, “Eye of the Storm,” which landed at the #5 Most Played Song in 2022 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart, and recent singles, “Paranoid (Crash & Burn),” and, “Dead Reckoning (Ft. We all have hardships and mood swings; this is our way to show that you’re not alone. A lot of Pop Evil, it’s about inspiring positivity and giving back.”
Pop Evil worked with producer WZRD BLD (Disturbed, Papa Roach, Motionless in White), a friend and collaborator on a few previous albums that generated # hits. “With ‘Versatile,’ we had a bunch of producers, but for this album, we just wanted to work with one person and get back to our roots,” says Kakaty. “There’s an energy he and I have, and he’s been great at helping us build these songs and work around some collective themes.”

Their 2011 album, War of Angels debuted at #8 on Billboard Top Rock Albums with three singles landing on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Top 10 including “Last Man Standing”, “Monster You Made” and “Boss’s Daughter.” The momentum continued with their 2013 album Onyx, landing them on the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 for the first time, plus it was #9 on the Billboard Independent Albums in America and #25 on the Billboard 200. The album included three #1 Billboard Mainstream Rock singles, “Trenches” “Deal with the Devil” and “Torn to Pieces.” In 2015, the band released their album, UP, which would make its way to #1 on Billboard Independent Albums, with four Top 5 Billboard singles such as “Ways to Get High,” “Take It All,” and “If Only for Now”. The hit single “Footsteps” is still one of the biggest songs to date and returned Pop Evil to Billboard’s #1 spot for four weeks. Their 2018 self-titled album landed three singles on Billboard Mainstream Rock, “Waking Lions” at #1 with “Be Legendary” peaking at #2, and “A Crime to Remember” peaking at #7.
Pop Evil’s last #1 single include “Survivor,” which also topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart in late 2021, joining previous Top 10 single “Work,” and #1 single “Breathe Again,” from their album VERSATILE. Over the course of their career, the band has achieved four gold singles with “Torn to Pieces,” and “Trenches” from Onyx, “Footsteps” from UP, and, “100 in a 55” from their debut studio album, Lipstick on the Mirror.
The hard rock group Pop Evil released the third single, “Dead Reckoning (Ft. Fit For A King)” from their upcoming album, Skeletons due March 17 via MNRK Heavy. [Pre-Save + Pre-Order].
The concept and instrumentals for “Dead Reckoning” were brought to the table by bassist, Joey “Chicago” Walser and co-written with singer, Leigh Kakaty. The producer, WZRD BLD, heard the demo and immediately suggested that Ryan Kirby from Fit for a King would be the perfect fit for a vocal collaboration. In describing the song, the band said, “’Dead Reckoning’ is about..a clear and unwavering decision a person makes within themselves.”
The 11-tracks feature the already released single, “Eye of the Storm” landing at the #5 Most Played Song in 2022on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart, and the most recent single, “Paranoid (Crash & Burn).” The album also includes guest performers such as Blake Allison from Devour the Day providing guest vocals on “Wrong Direction.”

The first single,“Eye of the Storm,”is a pummeling, chaotic maelstrom with an uplifting message at its center (and a killer chorus). As for the song’s lyrical plea, Kakaty explains: “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, at some point we all face a situation beyond our control. At times, it feels hopeless, but it’s not. There is a path through the chaos and a way out of the confusion. You are stronger and closer than you think you are. The storm will pass. Don’t let it bury you.”
Their most recent single, “Paranoid (Crash & Burn),”oscillates from something more melodic and rhythmic to pure aggression, that “get out of my head” scream is certainly going to resonate. “It’s about the voices in our head — we all have ‘em, but do we act on them?” says Kakaty. “It’s a cautionary tale, about processing those voices in a positive way.”
The music video is created by award-winning filmmaker and director, Jensen Noen best known for his work with Falling In Reverse, Ice Nine Kills, and Asking Alexandria. The digital world in “Paranoid (Crash & Burn)” is about overcoming inner demons that bring the song to life with futuristic elements. In discussing the video, Noen says, “During tough times, our minds can easily wander into dark places. It can feel like you’re drowning in a sea of paranoia. But no matter how bad things get, there’s always hope. There is always a way to escape from our minds. We just need to find the right key to unlock the door.”
Skeletons see the band once again working with producer Drew Fulk(Disturbed, Papa Roach, Motionless in White), a friend and collaborator on a few previous albums that generated # hits. “With ‘Versatile,’ we had a bunch of producers, but for this album, we just wanted to work with one person and get back to our roots,” says Kakaty. “There’s an energy he and I have, and he’s been great at helping us build these songs and work around some collective themes.”
The band partnered with Heart Support to spread awareness about mental health by giving away custom shows created by bassist Joey “Chicago” Walser – enter by December 12 to be qualified. Pop Evil said, “We all have voices in our head that tell us lies. They say things like “I’m not good enough”, “I’m alone”, “Things will never get better. These voices have the power to stop us in our tracks if we don’t fight them. We know that the first step in quieting these voices is sharing them with others and receiving encouragement.”

Following “Eye of the Storm” which recently reached #1 at Active Rock, “Paranoid (Crash & Burn)” oscillates from something more melodic and rhythmic to pure aggression — that “get out of my head” scream is certainly going to resonate. “It’s about the voices in our head — we all have ‘em, but do we act on them?” says frontman Leigh Kakaty. “It’s a cautionary tale, about processing those voices in a positive way. It’s very aggro and uptempo, and I think it speaks to the depression and anxiety a lot of us have at this stage in our lives,” – listen/steam and watch a clip of the song performed live for the first time at the Louder Than Life festival.
Pop Evil teamed up with filmmaker Jensen Noen for the official music video that will be shared later, in the meantime, watch visualizer on YouTube.
The band wrapped up their North American run with Daughtry and is set to begin their UK and Europe headlining tour on November 1.
Hard rock group Pop Evil’s latest single, “Eye of the Storm” reached #1 on the Active Rock chart making it their 8th #1 Single of their career.
In discussing the excitement of reaching #1, Pop Evil said, “We like to thank all our friends at Rock Radio, our Radio Promotion Team, Management, Record Label, and last but definitely not least, our fans. We can’t achieve these kinds of milestones without you! Thank you!”
The original rock track was released in April and powerfully conveys the chaos of a hurricane through dark, electric instrumentals with a pummeling, chaotic metal maelstrom that contains an uplifting message at its center.
As for the song’s lyrical plea, the band explains: “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, at some point we all face a situation beyond our control. The wind howls at your door as darkness fills the sky and everything you know is being tested. You don’t know if you can survive it. At times, it feels hopeless, but it’s not. There is a path through the chaos and a way out of the confusion. You are stronger and closer than you think you are. The storm will pass. Don’t let it bury you.” The video is an allegory of the song’s meaning and paints a picture of the storm with rapid, flashing lights and rain flooding the scene.
Hard rock group Pop Evil has released a remix of their latest single, “Eye of the Storm[Into The Vortex Remix]” , produced and remixed by Zach Jones.
“We wanted to try something different for a bonus version of ‘Eye Of The Storm,’” said frontman Leigh Kakaty. “We teamed up with Zach Jones who has worked closely with our Producer WZRD BLD and we came up with something that we felt was special.”

Summer Headlining Tour with Canadian Dates with Shinedown
Hard rock group Pop Evil has released their gritty single, “Eye of the Storm” today with an accompanying video directed by Sam Shapiro.
The rock track is a powerful number that conveys the chaos of a hurricane through dark, electric instrumentals with a pummeling, chaotic metal maelstrom that contains an uplifting message at its center. The video is an allegory of the song’s meaning and paints a picture of the storm with rapid, flashing lights and rain flooding the scene.
Don’t let it bury you.”
The band will begin their headlining tour on June 23 in Milwaukee at Summerfest concluding on August 14 in Wichita at The Cotillion with special guests, ZILLION and Oxymorrons. The band will be supporting Shinedown on their Summer 2022 Canadian tour starting on July 19 in Quebec City at Centre Videotron ending on August 3 in Abbotsford at Abbotsford Centre.
Pop Evil has massive anthems and built a new rock’n’roll institution on a foundation of showmanship, raw relatability, and hard rock hooks, both forward-thinking and timeless from frontman, Leigh Kakaty, lead guitarist Nick Fuelling, rhythm guitarist Dave Grahs, bassist Joey “Chicago” Walser and drummer Hayley Cramer. No matter the headline-grabbing declarations from legendary icons, lamenting the changing of the guard, the slow-burning success of Pop Evil demonstrates the hunger for hard-hitting honest music persisting worldwide.
The album included three #1 Billboard Mainstream Rock singles with “Trenches” “Deal with the Devil” and “Torn to Pieces.” In 2015, the band released their album, UP, which would make its way to #1 on Billboard Independent Albums, with four Top 5 Billboard Singles such as “Ways to Get High,” “Take It All,” and “If Only for Now”. The hit single, “Footsteps” is still one of the biggest songs to date and returned Pop Evil to Billboard’s #1 spot for four weeks. Their 2018 self-titled album landed three singles on Billboard Mainstream Rock, “Waking Lions” at #1 with “Be Legendary” peaking at #2, and “A Crime to Remember” peaking at #7. Pop Evil just celebrated their 7th career #1 single in late 2021 with “Survivor” on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart marking a historic milestone. “Survivor” joins the previous Top 10 single “Work,” and #1 single “Breathe Again,” from their album VERSATILE, out now via MNRK Heavy. Over the course of their career, the band has achieved four gold singles with “Torn to Pieces,” and “Trenches” from Onyx, “Footsteps” from UP and, “100 in a 55” from their debut studio album, Lipstick on the Mirror.
