THE 69 EYES “This Murder Takes Two (Feat. Kat Von D)” Video/Single Now Playing

Death Of Darkness Full-Length Out Now and Gotta Rock USA Tour To Begin May 5th

Darkness is dead, long live the darkness! Today, THE 69 EYES‘ new effort, Death Of Darkness sees the light of day via Atomic Fire Records. To celebrate the release of their thirteenth studio album, the Finnish gothic/glam goo-goo mucks have unveiled the official video for new track “This Murder Takes Two,” a special collaborative work featuring wonderful singer and tattoo artist, Kat Von D. Next to their unique brand of gloom and doom, of glam and wham, this song showcases the extraordinary nature of Death Of Darkness.

“John Carter Cash, Johnny Cash’s son, was in talks to record and produce an acoustic EP with us at Johnny Cash’s very own Cabin Studios in the US. We demoed some potential songs yet we ultimately never did this recording. This song somewhat just stuck with us,” remembers singer Jyrki 69. “It wasn’t complete without a female touch though, which is why we asked our good friend Kat Von D to sing on it. It’s my personal favorite [on the album].”

“It’s always such a pleasure working with THE 69 EYES boys. I’ve been such a huge fan of their music for so long. ‘This Murder Takes Two’ is such a special song. Even though it’s not the typical style of music that I am used to singing to, it was so much fun stepping out of my comfort zone. Jyrki has a beautiful way of sprinkling goth romance onto everything he does, even when it’s a western style song,” enthuses Kat Von D.

Following a successful tour through mainland Europe and their home country, THE 69 EYES will return to the US in May. The week-long Gotta Rock US Tour will commence on May 5th in Phoenix, Arizona at The Nile Theater and run through May 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada at the sold-out Sick New World Fest. Support will be provided by Pretty Boy Floyd on select dates. Find tickets and more at 69eyes.com.

Widely known as the Helsinki Vampires, THE 69 EYES gained several platinum albums with Blessed Be and Paris Kills and not only reached #1 of the single and album charts in their home country of Finland, but also plunged the world into a sinful cosmos of love, death, and melancholy, while outliving any other band emerging from the goth hype of the early 2000s. By developing their sound further into sleaze rock on Devils (2004) and Angels (2007) and not shying away from pitch black Elvis allusions in singer Jyrki 69’s dark voice and unique onstage dance moves, the band has established a worldwide following. Over the course of over three decades, the band has toured relentlessly throughout Europe, America, Asia, and Australia, and released twelve full-length studio albums.

Sprawling across ten lavishly dark, effortlessly cool songs, THE 69 EYES‘ thirteenth record, Death Of Darkness, is one of their most flawless, most consistent – bearing a title that’s of course both stylish and symbolic. Just like their music. 2023 is a far cry from the early days of the new millennium when gothic rock bands emerged from every graveyard and Finnish vampires stormed the charts around the world. However, the spirit of a world-class record like Death Of Darkness, the sheer passion and the enticing mystery, the suspense, and the smirk, are still very much alive.

THE 69 EYES are still one of the most talented and powerful dark rock acts.” — Radiometal

The record will see the light of the day on April 21st via Atomic Fire Records worldwide, excluding Finland where it will be released by Vallila Music House. Physical versions will be available in the US on May 5th.

Comments THE 69 EYES’ frontman Jyrki 69, “We started to make this album single by single, releasing first singles then an EP and now eventually the whole album. The method kept everything fresh and us on our toes while recording and writing new music. Our main aim was to get THE 69 EYES back to the Finland’s airwaves. Our music is still on the radio but over fifteen-year-old classics. How about new ones? The first single, ‘Drive,’ made this happen and we hit the jackpot here in Finland by being a part of Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert mainstream TV music show format! Now THE 69 EYES are back in the spotlight and Finland’s top rock band is playing sold-out shows.”

Death Of Darkness was recorded and produced by Erno Laitinen at Inkfish Studios in Helsinki. Miles Walker took care of the mixing at Westside Sound Studios in Atlanta, Georgia alongside with Erno Laitinen while mastering duties were handled by Tom Baker. THE 69 EYES New Single “Gotta Rock” Now Playing

Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE 69 EYES are unstoppable at the moment and have returned with yet another new song “Gotta Rock” – the first to come off their upcoming, as-yet-untitled new full-length slated to drop in early 2023.

“Gotta Rock” lives up to its name. THE 69 EYES version of the track initially premiered on Vain Elämää, the biggest Finnish TV primetime show, in which you could watch singer Jyrki 69 staying in a castle with seven other artists who performed each other’s songs during their time together. “Gotta Rock” is a cover from the famous Finnish hard rock band Boycott that released the rock anthem in the late ‘80s.

For this remake, THE 69 EYES received some famous help, as Jyrki 69 explains, “The Finnish classic rock band Boycott was one of our favorites in the ‘80s when we [started] THE 69 EYES. Due to the Finnish music TV program that I was recently featured in, we finally had a reason to make our own, more gothic rock sounding cover of Boycott’s ultimate classic smash hit ‘Gotta Rock.’ Die Krupps’ Jürgen Engler helped us to arrange it into this darkened mode!”

Further info on the new album from THE 69 EYES will follow very soon. In the meantime, you can still get the limited edition Drive EP, cut in the shape of a steering wheel exclusively handcrafted by Night Of The Vinyl Dead, HERE

THE 69 EYES Unleash Dark New Summer Single “Call Me Snake”

After twelve studio albums and several #1 chart positions in Finland, THE 69 EYES have no plans of slowing down. The band recently announced a massive European Fall tour from October through December 2022 and are also working on a new full-length studio release that will see the light of day in early 2023. In the meantime, the Helsinki Vampires allow no rest for the wicked and have unleashed a brand new single: “Call Me Snake.” It’s a dark summer hit, mixing an ‘80s gothic vibe with hard rocking guitars. Imagine The Stooges meeting early Ministry and ‘90s horror movies, and a track that shines through its simplicity yet still offers crazy twists around every corner.

“It’s 1997 in John Carpenter’s Escape From New York sci-fi classic and Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken saves the world,” comments vocalist Jyrki 69. “These are the thematic elements for ‘Call Me Snake’ and the world will be saved again!”

THE 69 EYES Release Music Video For New Single “Drive”

Hop into the passenger’s seat and let Helsinki’s longest serving gothic rock vampires THE 69 EYES take you on a wild ride through a sweltering Summer night in the city! With twelve albums under their belts and several number one chart positions in Finland, THE 69 EYES are back with a catchy new single — the first of several new tracks to be released in the coming months. Remaining true to their credo “Goth ‘n’ roll will never die!,” the band is currently in the studio recording their lucky thirteenth offering to be released in 2023. But fans need not wait any longer to hear new sounds from the crypt…

Comments guitarist Bazie of “Drive,” “The inspiration came from the same pool of music I have always liked, mostly from the ‘80s. I never plan anything; I just grab my guitar and see what comes up. We jammed a lot more as a band this time and came up with song ideas from all the guys. ‘Drive’ started from one little riff, which I had for a long time. It took a while, but it was worth it. It still sounds exiting and that was the goal.”

Adds singer Jyrki 69, “Bazie delivered this music and I was blown away by how fresh it felt again. It sounded like some rock radio stuff! Our songs are on daily rotation on the rock channels here in Finland, but they are the ones that we did fifteen years ago. So, I thought that we could have some fresh options now; let’s take the airwaves! ‘Drive’ is a traditional 69 EYES sounding, fast rocker with a Sunset Strip slap on it!”

Additionally, THE 69 EYES recently announced tours in Europe in November and December 2022, with industrial pioneers Ministry and horror rockers Wednesday 13.
