DieHumane Releases “The Grotesque” on Vinyl with Bonus NIN Cover

DieHumane release cover of Nine Inch Nail‘s “Something I Can Never Have” to mark the release of their debut album The Grotesque on vinyl. The Grotesque was released in May of this year to critical acclaim and made it to the top 10 on metal radio in the US. The album features former Exodus guitarist Rick Hunolt on lead guitar and former Type O Negative/Life Of Agony drummer Sal Abruscato on drums. Upon completion of the record, which was recorded during 2020/2021, Abruscato returned to his own respective projects. 

“This was something we recorded specifically for the vinyl release. Trent Reznor is one of the most important and unique composers of our time and it was an honor to be able to pay tribute to his artistry in our own way by covering one of his most gut-wrenching and emotional songs. We’ll be the first to admit that nothing we could have done could match the power of what that man and a piano can pull off, so we went our own way with it, combining elements of smooth jazz, doom metal, and classical to paint a sprawling 10 minute tribute to an artist who’s influence can be heard on every song we have written and will write. We hope you enjoy it.” 

The album is available in both standard edition vinyl as well as a special collectors edition vinyl available through WURMgroup, the label of legendary producer, Ulrich Wild, who also produced the album. 
“We’re super excited about the release of The Grotesque on vinyl. We worked our asses off on ensuring that we came up with something cool and unique for our vinyl release. From day one we wanted the songs, music videos, album art, etc to all be part of one large piece of art that creates an entire package rather than just a handful of things to sell. About DieHumane: 

DieHumane was founded in Galveston, Texas at the end of 2020 by Joshua Vargas and Greg Hilligiest as a way to deal with the loss and isolation of that year. DieHumane Premieres 3rd Single “Epitaph”

“We’re happy to release our third single ‘Epitaph’ as we get closer to our album dropping on May 5th. ‘Epitaph’ is an emotional song about the wreckage one leaves behind as a result of their own death.” – DieHumane

“Epitaph” is the third single from DieHumane‘s upcoming debut album. The Grotesque was completed in 2022 and will feature 10 original compositions. The album was produced and mixed by legendary producer, Ulrich Wild. The Grotesque will be unleashed on May 5th.

DieHumane was founded in Galveston, Texas at the end of 2020 by Joshua Vargas and Greg Hilligiest as a way to deal with the loss and isolation of that year. DieHumane – The Members:

Rick Hunolt – Lead Guitar: A former member of the pioneering thrash metal band Exodus, Rick is one half of the legendary “H-team” featuring him and Gary Holt. Rick eventually stepped back from Exodus in the early 2000’s to raise his kids and makes his return to music with DieHumane. 

Garret West – Vocals: A man of many talents, such as an actor, musician, and stand up comic, Garret is a versatile vocalist and the original singer for the up-and-coming prog band, Anova Skyway. 

Joshua Vargas – Bass, Rhythm Guitar, Piano, Programming: A filmmaker, documentarian, and music video director who has worked on videos for bands/artists such as David Vincent (of Morbid Angel/Vltimas,) Down, Goblin, Skinlab, SOiL, Leonard Cohen, and many more.  

Greg Hilligiest – Keys, Programming, Guitar: A multi-instrumentalist and electronics wizard, Greg is the kind of guy that could write you a beautiful song, as well as program your stereo to eat you. 

Sal Abruscato – Drums: Founding member and former drummer of the legendary goth metal band, Type O Negative, as well as the former drummer for Life Of Agony, Sal also fronted and was the main songwriter for the doom metal band A Pale Horse Named Death. There’s not much to say that his mark on metal music doesn’t say for itself. In DieHumane, Sal returns to the drum kit and brings the Italian thunder!

DieHumane Premieres “Oblivion”

DieHumane is releasing its debut album The Grotesque on May 5, 2023, in partnership with Ulrich Wild‘s label WURMgroup and The Oracle Management, the management company of Coal Chamber/DevilDriver frontman, Dez Fafara (and his wife Anahstasia who’s the CEO). The album was completed in 2022 and will feature 10 original compositions. The Grotesque was produced and mixed by legendary producer, Ulrich Wild, who shares,“I’m incredibly excited and honored to be part of DieHumane’s debut album. I’m always interested in artists who create their own genre-defying brand of music, and DieHumane did just that with TheGrotesque. Their music is incredibly dynamic, and goes from hauntingly beautiful to absolute destruction with everything in between. A true musical journey.”

Dez Fafara adds, “When I heard the record for the first time I immediately restarted it for the second time. This is one of the most unique musical offerings in metal at this point, completely its own sound ,lush and unforgiving in artistry. There will be big things on the horizon once the public gets attached to this band ! “‘Oblivion’ is our take on a song that’s been written a thousand times; self-loathing, the lack of will to push forward, and isolation. It was one of the first songs written for this project at the end of 2020 and was the track that got the party started.
