Ghost Announces Re-Imperatour U.S.A. 2023

Ghost has revealed details of its upcoming RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 summer tour with special guest Amon Amarth. Produced by Live Nation and FPC Live, the 27-date tour kicks off on Wednesday, August 2nd in Concord, CA at Concord Pavilion, with stops in Salt Lake City, Chicago, Cincinnati, Austin and more before wrapping up with the band’s Monday, September 11th return to the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Ghost continues to elevate and reaffirm its status as one of the world’s most esteemed and celebrated creative forces. Accumulating well over a billion streams, the GRAMMY-winning Swedish theatrical rock band continues to bring the “euphoric spectacle” (ROLLING STONE) of its live shows to ever-growing and increasingly impassioned crowds, headlining arena tours including sold out shows from The Forum in Los Angeles and Barclays Center in New York to London’s O2 Arena and Stockholm’s Avicii Arena. In March 2022, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reported in a Calendar cover story that Ghost had “conquered metal and the charts” when its fifth album IMPERA debuted at #1 in a sweep of the U.S. album charts, entering the BILLBOARD 200 at #2 and bowing at #1 in the band’s native Sweden as well as Germany and Finland, while cracking the top 5 in the UK (#2), Netherlands (#2), Belgium (#2), Canada (#3), Australia (#3), France (#5), Ireland (#5), and more. Produced by Klas Åhlund and mixed by Andy Wallace — and featuring “Spillways”—hailed as a “sweetly constructed rock tune” by THE NEW YORK TIMES, the GRAMMY-nominated “Call Me Little Sunshine,” and Active Rock #1 radio single “Hunter’s Moon” — IMPERA finds Ghost transported centuries forward from the Black Plague era of its previous album, 2018 Best Rock Album GRAMMY nominee Prequelle—or as ROLLING STONE put it, “Ghost predicted the pandemic, Now the metal band is foretelling the fall of empires.”The result is the most ambitious and lyrically incisive entry in the Ghost canon: Over the course of IMPERA’s 12-song cycle, empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs ply their hype (financial and spiritual alike), prophecies are foretold as the skies fill with celestial bodies divine and man-made… All in all, the most current and topical Ghost subject matter to date is set against a hypnotic and darkly colorful melodic backdrop making IMPERA a listen like no other — yet unmistakably, quintessentially Ghost.

AMON AMARTH To Make History With THE GREAT HEATHEN TOUR

Following the news that they will make history as the first extreme metal band to headline the Kia Forum this December, undisputed kings of Viking heavy metal, Amon Amarth, have today announced that the historic evening will be celebrated with another first of its kind as terrestrial radio’s queen of hard rock Full Metal Jackie combines forces with Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin (Liquid Metal) to co-present the Los Angeles event in celebration of the metal genre.

Amon Amarth will be bringing their infamous theater production to their North American tour, a spectacle that fans have come to expect over the course of their touring career. Additionally, full-scale European production is coming to North American arenas this winter when they play the world famous Los Angeles Kia Forum, Place Bell in Montreal and Hammerstein ballroom in New York City as part of their gargantuan The Great Heathen Tour. The band have released a brand new tour teaser which gives fans a small taste of what to expect and can be viewed below.

Along with their awe-inspiring stage show, featuring Viking ships, a Viking helmet drum riser, live battle reenactments, the now infamous “Viking Row” and enough pyro to raze several villages to the ground, Amon Amarth will also be bringing one of the best lineups of the year with them as they are joined for the full run by fellow genre legends Carcass, Obituary and Cattle Decapitation. These history making shows will see Amon Amarth become the first ever extreme metal band to headline arenas in North America. A truly exceptional feat for a European viking metal band who started touring the US in the early 2000’s, playing bars and clubs.

Speaking on their upcoming North American raid, Amon Amarth share;

“Heathens! Come make a battle to remember with us on these monumental and historic raids along with our fellow brothers in metal Carcass, Obituary and Cattle Decapitation. Let’s make these the biggest death metal shows in history in this country! Bring your viking spirit and get ready to raise your horns and row like you’ve never rowed before! See you at the shows!”

Speaking on the release of their latest opus, Amon Amarth share

“Heathens! The time is here for the arrival of The Great Heathen Army! This record has many elements that make up Amon Amarth in 2022, from the dark and brutal death metal of “Oden Owns You All” to the sing-along of “Heidrun” to Biff Byford’s amazing guest vocals on “Saxons and Vikings” and much more. We’re ready to take this record around the world for a two year raid and we’ll see you soon at the shows.”

Elaborating on the video for brand new track, “Find A Way Or Make One“, the band continue

“We did this video with director Mikis Fontagnier in Frankfurt, Germany and with it we wanted to try something different. This video is our take on the style of some of our favorite videos we grew up on as kids, like Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and Motorhead’s “Killed By Death”. We had some fun making this and it was definitely fun to smash up a stale old business office!”

In a unique partnership with Drops AR, Amon Amarth have hidden five virtual trading cards in an augmented reality scavenger hunt. Each card represents a band member and contains an exclusive song preview from the new album.

The hunt takes place in WebAR, meaning no app needs to be downloaded and anyone can participate. Head HERE for the scavenger hunt, where fans will also have the chance to enter to win an exclusive package that includes an Amon Amarth box set, a Blood Red Marbled vinyl and a music cassette.

Continuing the tradition of conquering new ground, Amon Amarth recently announced that they will be setting sail for US shores this Fall for what is set to be the death metal raid of the year. The Great Heathen Tour, produced by Live Nation, will pillage its way across North America this coming November/December, razing 27 cities to the ground in its wake. The tour concludes with a special show at the Kia Forum, Los Angeles where Amon Amarth will bring their full European production and become the first death metal band to headline the famous venue. No Sleep Til………..Los Angeles!!

AMON AMARTH Announce New Album “The Great Heathen Army”

Drop New Track/Video “Get In The Ring”

Undisputed kings of Viking heavy metal, Amon Amarth, have announced their twelfth studio album, ‘The Great Heathen Army’ today. The 9-track aural assault will be released on Friday, August 5th, 2022 via Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders available now with the first 1000 orders at the band’s European Victorious Merch store receiving a free signed poster.

Today’s announcement is highlighted by the release of brand new track and accompanying music video, “Get In The Ring” which was written for AEW pro-wrestling star Erick Redbeard, who also stars in the music video .

Speaking on the announcement of their new album, AMON AMARTH vocalist, Johan Hegg shares

“Overall ‘The Great Heathen Army’ is one of the heavier albums we’ve made. There are some dark and heavy songs that are really powerful and in-your-face, but we obviously have some trademark melodic Amon Amarth songs on there as well, and a few surprises too. It’s a really well-balanced album. It sounds great. Andy Sneap is awesome. It was great to be able to work with him again.”

Gutiarist, Olavi Mikkonen adds

“We’ve been away making new music and we’re back with new darker, more death-metal sounding album. If “Berserker” was our “heavy metal” album, then The Great Heathen Army is our “death metal” album. But with that said, it’s still very much contemporary Amon Amarth, but perhaps style-wise we have gone back to our roots a little bit.”

On the release of new single “Get In The Ring“, Mikkonen continues

“I really like “Get In The Ring” which was written for our friend Erick Redbeard the pro wrestler as an “entrance” song for him. The lyrics are obviously written to fit both Viking and wrestling themes, and you can also see Erick as the lead character in the new video for the song. We shot the video in Wroclaw, Poland with our friends Grupa 13 and they helped us create this dark and epic Mad Max meets Viking underground super brutal fight club for the video clip.”

Amon Amarth Release Official Music Video ‘PUT YOUR BACK INTO THE OAR’

Acclaimed Viking overlords and modern masters of heavy metal, Amon Amarth have today revealed their brand new, pulverising single “Put Your Back Into The Oar”, an ode to the epic Viking row. The standalone single was recorded & mixed in January 2021 at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden with producer Jens Bogren. Released via the band’s own label Victorious Music, the track was exclusively premiered on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal yesterday and was subsequently played every hour throughout the day. Find “Put Your Back Into The Oar” on streaming platforms here .

Amon Amarth comment,

“We’ve been quiet over the last 2 years, but we’ve been at home in Sweden hard at work behind the scenes. Much has been said about fans coming to our shows to have fun and doing the “epic Viking row”. Well we thought it was a good idea to write a song about it! This one is for you, the fans, wherever you are – and may Odin guide you as you row to your destiny in uncharted seas! Enjoy the song and video while we continue to work on a new album. We can’t wait to see all you heathens soon.”

The official video also premiered today on the band’s YouTube channel. Shot in England over 3 days in October 2021, the atmospheric, cinematic video was produced by Twin V and directed by Ryan MackFall at Crashburn Media.

Amon Amarth stand tall and unassailable: over 25 years into a career that has seen them evolve from humble origins in the dark, dank rehearsal rooms of their native Tumba to their current status as explosive festival headliners and one of the metal world’s most widely adored bands.

Formed in 1992, Amon Amarth became modern metal greats the hard way. Ruthlessly dedicated to creating new music and taking it out on the road, the Swedes steadily built a formidable reputation as a ferocious live band and, as the years passed, were increasingly recognized for their recorded achievements too. Since the dawn of the millennium, Amon Amarth have been unstoppable.

Breakthrough releases like 2006’s ‘With Oden On Our Side and its now legendary follow-up, 2008’s ‘Twilight Of The Thunder God, further cemented their popularity throughout the metal world, while the band’s stage show evolved with each successive tour, transforming into one of modern metal’s truly great spectacles. Amon Amarth returned in 2019 with their biggest, boldest and most bombastic musical statement to date – ‘Berserker– which brought with it an epic, history-making trek across North America with fellow Swedes Arch Enemy, At The Gates, and Grand Magus and saw multiple sell-outs. To date the band have clocked up a mammoth 270 million YouTube views and 547 million streams across their releases with over 2 million albums sold worldwide.

The follow-up to 2019’s much lauded ‘Berserkeralbum is in development for a possible Summer 2022 release.
