Los Angeles rock band Dead Posey has resurrected New Order’s “Blue Monday” out today with an accompanying video ahead of their debut 2023 album.
In discussing the single, Danyell Souza (lead singer) and Tony F. (guitarist/multi-instrumentalist) said, “We thought it was time to give this song a 2022 update, so we took some inspiration from both the original New Order track and Orgy’s version while putting our spin on it and flipping the arrangement. We’ve loved playing this one live and are excited to get the recorded version released. We’ll be playing it in our set every night on tour this fall along with some unreleased songs that will be on our debut album.” [Stream Now].

Dead Posey have punctured their proverbial vicious vein by serenading a posse of devoted followers with fuzz-guitar-infused rock-and-roll and edgy yet timeless-sounding vocals that pack an anti-establishment punch. When Souza and Tony F. met, they quickly tapped into undeniable chemistry that led them down a cathartic path of creating punk-rock sounds riddled with unsettling lyrical themes ranging from sexism, depression, angst, and rage against oppressive systems —all doused with a healthy dose of “DGAF” attitude yet still seeing the beauty within the madness.
The band kicked off their North American tour supporting The Birthday Massacre on September 15 hitting major market cities, concluding on October 9 in Toronto at Axis Club.
