Antigroupies, XYZPDQ, Side Chicks and Minor Strut at Club L in Anaheim, CA on October 20th, 2023
A relatively new entrant for a venue in the LA area is Club L in Anaheim. A Google search of the address reveals an automotive performance business in small industrial park, but this place actually exists as a rehearsal studio space that is now doing weekly concert events. These events are done unofficially as “suggested donation” which probably skirts a lot of formality that would burden this emerging performance space.

On Oct 20th they played host to 4 of the newest high energy female-fronted bands Antigroupies, XYZPDQ, Side Chicks and Minor Strut.
Antigroupies is an all-female group that delivers edgy riff-heavy rock reminiscent of The Bangles.

XYZPDQ is fronted by 16 year old phenom Salem Meade. Decent vocals but her guitar chops are first-rate for someone her age and she has been on the Kelly Clarkson show! Their music is straight-ahead rock that includes some very nicely done covers.

Side Chicks is heavy on attitude (in a good way) and super heavy on energy, sorta-like Alanis Morrisette but with humor.

Lastly Minor Strut is one helluva heavy alt rock band that is getting some serious attention as they’ve garnered cool sponsorships and radio airplay here in SoCal.
