On September 26th, 2024 at The Belasco
Boris, a band from Tokyo Japan, has stood the test of time. They have been around since 1992 and continues to astound audiences from all over the world, new and old alike, including me since I only discovered them about a year and a half ago through a musician I know, Jonathan, the guitarist for a local LA Band called Nebulaen.
According to WIKIPEDIA:
“…the band is composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. All three members contribute vocals. Boris has released more than 20 studio albums on various labels around the world, as well as a variety of live albums, compilations, EPs, singles, and collaborative albums.”

As part of their “AMPLIFIER WORSHIP SERVICE” 2024 North American Tour, BORIS amplified their dark and heavy rock and drone set in front of a jam packed audience at The Belasco in Downtown Los Angeles.
Super fans lined up early to see them perform live on Stage because the tour includes performing all the songs from their first album.
Their music has been described as “sludge metal drone noise”. Growing up listening to a lot of American Goth Bands and Heavy Metal music in the late 80’s and early 90’s, I describe their style and sound of music as being melancholic yet hard and heavy rock infused feedback noise that chime along with a ton of heavy heart pounding but clear bass; all of which becomes an amalgamation of bands that I love listening to in my early teens such as Bauhaus, Jesus and Mary Chain, Love and Rockets and Christian Death with a touch of all the heavy metal bands of the 80’s all rolled into one unique sound called “sludge metal drone noise.”
