What’s the story behind the name of your band?

The band name kinda just came out of nowhere. We were having some trouble figuring out the logistics of putting the band together, so we would go to our friends and mentors and get advice. My vocal coach Dave Stroud and I were talking about what was most important when it came to putting the band together, and I had asked him “What matters Most?” And he looked at me and said “that’s it. That’s your band name”.

I pitched it to Shane and we both liked it, so that was the name!

Who are the main songwriters, and what influences your songwriting process?

So far we’re pretty collaborative in terms of songwriting. Everybody adds their own flavor to the tracks, and puts their own style over it. For the most part it starts out with Me (Aidan), Jacob, and Nimrod putting together chord structures and melodies for Shane and Chris to add their parts onto.

What was the first song you wrote as a band, and how did it come about?

The first full song we wrote together is a song called “Let Go”. Nimrod and I decided to stick around our rehearsal space after practice and try to write something. It had been a day where I believe Jacob wasn’t able to make it, and Shane and Chris had work after rehearsal, so Nimrod and I decided to stick around and try our hand at writing something.

We had come up with the general idea and spent about 2 hours on the first 30 seconds of the song. We both had been pretty burnt out by then and needed a break, so we ordered a pizza, and threw on an episode of Star Trek while having lunch. I’m not sure what kind of black magic comes from Star Trek and pizza, but as soon as we were done, we jumped straight into the song and had 0 issues finishing it to its entirety. It was a lot of fun, and resulted in an 8 hour writing session. Kinda showed me what we’re capable of, and we’ve been going from there.

What are some of your musical influences, and how do they shape your style?

All of us come from different musical backgrounds, and have a LARGEST range in influences, from Fallout boy, to Guns n Roses and Ice nine Kills. Really we’ve chosen to shape our style around a mix of those and some other poppier rock bands that we really dig!

What’s the best part of working with each other, and what makes your band unique?

The best part so far is the sheer dedication and skills we all share. Everybody in the band is a polished and seasoned musician, and we all understand the mission. We have a message to send out to the world, and we all understand what it means to do that. Everybody is so excited and hard working when it comes to this project, and it really shows now more than ever. We’re also all friends, and pretty close ones for the short amount of time we’ve known each other. We each share a lot of interests and experiences that kind of instantly brought us together, and it’s been such a pleasure being able to work together.
