LIVE REVIEW: Rolling Quartz at Pyrkon, their biggest venue so far with 2,000 seats, by Lucy Gougeon

After a packed start to the year with a one-month-long Europe tour, followed by two months across the US and Canada and a recent performance in Korea, Rolling Quartz returned once again to Poland, this time in Poznań, for Pyrkon : one of the largest fantasy festivals in Europe, where fans of games, films, comics, or literature come together.

Rolling Quartz were scheduled to appear on two out of three days, for the happiness of their fans. On June 13th, they delivered a powerful 1-hour-and-15-minute concert in what was their largest venue to date :  a seated hall with a 2,000-seat capacity !!!

The energy in the room was magical, electric and overflowing with happiness. Fans began cheering the moment the band stepped on stage. As always, Rolling Quartz did what they do best : performing with unfiltered passion and love, both for their music and for their fans.

Every member gave it their all : 

  • Our wonderful vocalist Jayoung’s powerful vocals shone throughout the set,
  • Choi Hyunjung and IREE delivered electrifying guitar solos,
  • not forgetting the band’s badass bassist Arem, who laid down groove-heavy lines that anchored each song with precision,
  • and of course last but not least, their fairy-like drummer Yeongeun, smiling through the set while holding the beat with explosive energy.

The chemistry between the members was unmistakable. They clearly love to perform together, and it showed with every interaction they had on stage. Especially the vocalist Jayoung, who made full use of her freedom to move, often crossing the stage to connect with each member and engage with the audience.

The crowd matched their energy threefold. Fans were singing along to every lyric, every beat, especially during their iconic cover of Bad Romance. Some lucky fans even managed to lock eyes with the members, creating unforgettable personal memories.

The concert concluded with their beautiful anthem Sing Your Heart  Out requiring the help of their fans to sing the chorus, creating a beautiful last memory for everyone… or so we thought! The band returned for an encore with a high-energy cover of Helena by My Chemical Romance, which left the audience thrilled.

After this incredible night, fans were overjoyed, and the magic didn’t stop there. The following day featured a fansign session in the morning, followed by a photo session in the afternoon. While organizers may not have anticipated such a turnout, the line was full of eager fans ready to have a quick chat and make unforgettable memories. Despite the somewhat less-than-ideal setting, everyone walked away smiling, with memories they’ll treasure forever.
