Fresh off two months of North American tour dates, award-winning artist and songwriter Lindsay Ell releases her new single “good guy” today via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. With sparkly, soaring vocals that deliver cutting truth, “good guy” is a vibrant pop revelation. A testament to her seasoned songwriting, Ell channels themes of betrayal, deception, and integrity into an irresistible pop melody driven by rhythmic bass lines, her signature Fender riffs, and synths that dare listeners to not dance out an emotional release.

Throughout the song, Ell takes her power back as she sings aloud the words she’s long been keeping inside: “What’s worse than keeping quiet, is keeping up the lie, so everyone around you still believes that, you’re a good guy” and “It’s like you’re still trying, to make my life worse, Still making sure, I’ve buried all your secrets, just like they were mine, Cause I’m scared of what would happen, if I ever told my side.”

“‘good guy’ is about setting the record straight and taking my power back,” Lindsay Ell shares. “This song is an internal discussion about being forced to keep someone’s integrity while knowing the truth. I think one of the most important things we can do in life is to be honest with ourselves. To know what we think and how we feel about something is true, no matter what other people believe.”

“good guy” is the latest offering from Ell’s upcoming EP fence sitter, out October 3rd, which takes a sonic leap further into the pop singer-songwriter space. A striking collection of songs about knowing when to let go, questioning motherhood, keeping faith in herself, and reclaiming her truth, fence sitter continues the journey Ell began with last year’s EP love myself, her first collection of evocative and empowering pop songs. Already an established and celebrated artist who has toured the world and topped the charts, Lindsay Ell continues her artistic discovery, exploring authentic creative expression, unafraid to evolve.
