Global superstar Rauw Alejandro received the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Award for Vision last night from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation during their annual gala at the Warner Theatre in the nation’s capital.
The artist was honored by the Foundation for his innovative contribution to Latin music and global impact.
“I am the son of a cultural crossroads, and what a great blessing it is to carry this mix in my blood, because it is what guides my art and my path,” the singer said upon receiving the award.
“Like me, all of you who listen to me and our leaders share this mix in your blood, because your great-great-grandparents also came from different shores of the world seeking a home, and together they built the nation we share today. Let us not forget that we are the fruit of that great effort. We were children who once watched others lead; today we have the responsibility to continue their legacy: to fight for justice instead of war, to seek unity in our diversity, and to protect what they left us with so much sacrifice,” he added.
In his heartfelt speech, deeply rooted in his cultural identity, Rauw dedicated the award to the entire Hispanic community in the United States.
“Grateful from the heart for this recognition, but this award is for all Hispanics: those mothers and fathers, those grandparents who struggle day by day to get their families ahead; for the visionaries who left their mark, and for all the Latinos who continue creating extraordinary things. Proud to be Puerto Rican, to have been born in the Caribbean: This is Cosa Nuestra! I love you,” the performer said.
The 2025 Hispanic Heritage Award comes during what has been an extraordinary year for Rauw Alejandro, marked by the release of his fifth studio album, Cosa Nuestra. The production debuted at #1 on Apple Music and Spotify charts, as well as on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.
With the Cosa Nuestra Tour, Rauw Alejandro toured the United States and Europe, captivating audiences and specialized press with a stage production that celebrated the union between Puerto Rico and New York, as well as the result of this cultural fusion: salsa.
The artist will continue to explore his cultural and musical roots on his sixth studio album, Cosa Nuestra: Capítulo 0, which features the singles “Carita Linda” and “Buenos Términos”—songs that represent the artist’s deep exploration of traditional Boricua genres, such as bomba, and rhythms inherited from the Afro-Caribbean tradition.
