It was my first time seeing live Brkn Love. While we have covered this band in our medium, I have personally just heard a few songs by them, from the same press releases. Honestly, I liked their material, but I never got hooked on them. This live performance might have changed that. The sound was powerful, melodic and heavy. I really believe that live performances add a whole different dimension to their songs.

Songs played included 20/20 Vision, Little Black Box, Shades of You, Pulling Leeches, Diamonds, Like A Drug and Shot Down, with most of the songs from their latest The Program album released last year.

Alien Ant Farm is a whole different animal. First I heard the back in 2001 when they release the cover of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal. Next year their breakout album ANThology will celebrate 25th anniversary. After that I kept an eye on their musical journey. Band currently signed with a new label Judge & Jury Records and is in process of writing new music.

About their performance. To me they always are more with punkish sound, while generally labeled as alt rock band. Their live performance has that same feel as well. Maybe it’s just me. Band’s entrance to the stage was preceded by unknown to me traditional latin tune. They opened with two tunes Courage and Wish from their second album / breakout album ANThology. This album and their latest 2024 release mAntras, were the bands go to choices for the night. Overall their performance as always was exceptional as you would expect from seasoned rockers. Band vocalist Dryden Vera Mitchell had to get the crowd moving few times which seemed to me a bit too thin and lethargic for a Saturday. He did his job and by closing song Smooth Criminal the crowd was properly engaged to the rock show.

Band’s setlist included Courage, Wish, The Wrong Things, Movies,
These Days, Attitude, Last dAntz, Storms Over and Smooth Criminal.

Award winning Canadian rockers came on stage to already raucous crowd. Energy levels were raised with opening song Above from the bands first album under the current name. First time seeing the band I did not know what to expect. But, oh boy, they did not disappoint. One person stood out for me more than others – Rick Jackett, bands founding member and rhythm guitarist. I need whatever he is having for that level of energy as he was displaying on stage. Constant guitar swirls, jumping, catching slipping away guitar and so on. Pardon me for having too many pics of him in the gallery, I could not resist. Besides James there are three more founding members in the current lineup – Scott Anderson on vocals, James Black on lead guitar and Sean Anderson on bass with addition of Steve Molella on drums who joined the band a decade ago.

The band is a perfect mix of alt rock and hard rock. The on stage passion of both guitarists gives the band that heavier look, while the bands casual dress outlook give more relaxed alt rock vibe. As you would expect from seasoned rock band their musical performance was flawless.

On this tour the band is promoting their latest release Last Night On Earth due November 7h this year via Better Noise Music. As the album is not released yet the band played only three singles taken out the upcoming album. Title track the band reveled only two weeks ago. Pre-orders are available now HERE.
