Of Monsters and Men made their long awaited return to LA this week in support of their new album All Is Love & Pain In The Mouse Parade. It had been six years since their last visit as the 2020 tour got thwarted due to the pandemic. This sent the group into hibernation for a while. Lead singer Nanna used the 2020/21 off-period to do her first-ever solo project How To Start A Garden and also did a brief tour in support of this album in 2023. Upon completion of this tour Nanna and the group went back to a creating the new music with the result being the new album which was just released last month.
This new tour focuses on this new album and 8 of the 18-song set being the new material with the other 10 songs basically being OMAM’s greatest hits. Lead singers Nanna and Ragnar trade vocal duties seamless for what is a stunningly beautiful evening of music. The vocals range from acapella to full blown big rockers such as “Alligator”. The group is composed of seven members and the resulting depth and richness of their live show is pretty spectacular. Much of the tour dates have been sellouts and this show at the Hollywood Palladium was no exception. Four more North American dates are on tap before the group takes their holiday break before resuming live shows in Europe staring in February for which many of these dates are already sold-out.
This group is one of the handful of new generation groups that is doing truly great music and stunning live shows that gives this author hope for the future of rock. This live show experience is big and not to be missed when they make a future return trip to the US. A gallery is images appears below.
