Alt-pop singer-songwriter Dela Kay has released her latest single, “Guilty Conscience,” – a vivid, guitar-driven track that combines 80s synths with an alt-pop punk energy. With tongue-in-cheek lyrics about obsession, betrayal, and modern love, Dela Kay delivers her most theatrical and authentic chapter yet.
“‘Guilty Conscience’ came from a very personal place,” she shares. “I wanted to say everything I’d never say and get it off my chest—funny, cheeky, but real. Everyone has experienced betrayal, and this song talks about the kind that happens online too—virtual cheating, gaslighting, all that messy stuff.”
The track was written in Nashville, Dela Kay’s hometown, alongside Nick Cozine (Iann Dior, Machine Gun Kelly) and Jake Finch (boygenius, Ashe, Lucy Dacus), and co-produced with GRAMMY Award-winning producer and songwriter Stefano Pigliapoco (Chris Brown – 11:11).
Dela Kay’s upbringing in a musical household heavily influenced her songwriting, grounding her in real experiences that she turns into vivid stories. “Both my parents were performers, and music and theater were part of everyday life,” she says. “At a young age, I learned to write catchy melodies with a story behind them – and that’s stayed with me. I want my songs to feel real, raw, and relatable.”
Dela Kay partnered with Working Holiday, a Nashville-based creative team known for their recent work with The Band CAMINO and Medium Build, to design the single’s visuals and artwork. Shot with 80s-inspired theatrics, the music video finds Dela Kay in a single spotlight on a red stage curtain, moving through different personas and outfits with dramatic flair. The visuals echo the song’s mix of emotional honesty, cheeky humor, and high-energy performance, capturing the essence of her storytelling and evolving artistry.
With “Guilty Conscience,” Dela Kay invites fans to explore the messy, human side of relationships, cementing herself as an artist who isn’t afraid of being unapologetically herself. “I hope people hear it and feel seen, entertained, and maybe even a little empowered to call out the chaos in their own lives.”

Dela Kay, who hails from the vibrant music scene of Nashville, TN, draws inspiration from artists such as The Maine, Maggie Lindemann, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne. With previous releases that have amassed over 2M streams collectively, and secured spots on Shazam’s Best New Music Apple Playlist; Dela Kay believes that the past year of her career has been her most authentic to date. At the start of Dela Kay’s career in 2014, her electro-pop style began to emerge through a collaboration with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, Femke Weidema; which eventually led to her first electro-pop/European-infused single release, “9 out of 10.” Named by Earmilk as an artist who was gifted “with a rich, distinctive vocal style” for her release of “Make You Mine,” Dela Kay went on to continue releasing singles and garnering hundreds of thousands of streams. In 2019 Dela Kay released “All My Love” through Sony Music, which ended up charting 49 on the top 150 global artist charts for Digital Radio Tracker as well as in the top ten for the Top Independent Charts. After a brief hiatus, Dela Kay marked her return by debuting a new, more alternative sound in 2021 with the release of “The Worst Part,” via Wonderland Magazine, and has been releasing this style of music ever since.
