Taking Back Sunday kicked off their 11th annual Holiday spectacular with a hometown show at Mulcahy’s in Wantagh, NY on December 10th. This was night one out of two for the yearly festivities featuring bands Modern Chemistry and Origami Angel.

Every date of this 4 date mini tour featured different openers. Origami Angel got the crowd ready for Taking Back Sunday with their electric set. The two piece band is from Washington D.C. and contains singer and guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Pat Doherty. The band formed in 2016 and currently has 3 albums released. The duo released their debut studio album in 2019. Their sound can be described as indie rock or emo, with influences such as Weezer and Lil Uzi Vert, and has a DIY mindset when it comes to their work, wanting to be as hands on as possible.

Taking Back Sunday took this stage in their best holiday attire and suits ready to put on a very jolly performance for their hometown show. The rock band formed in Amityville, New York, an hour outside NYC in 1999. The main band members consist of Lead vocalist Adam Lazzara, Lead guitarist John Nolan and bass guitarist Shaun Cooper. They tour with guitarist Nathan Cogan and drummer Mitchell Register to make a full live show happen. Although the original lineup has been no-more for a long time, the band still pays homage to their Long Island roots. The band has 8 studio albums ranging from 2002 to 2023. Taking Back Sunday has been doing this Holiday Spectacular for the past 11 years at Mulcahy’s pub & Concert hall and the tradition seems to show no signs of stopping. With a grand 20 song set list, some snow, and ugly sweaters in no scarcity, the band had yet another successful performance for their holiday festivities.
