CHINESE ARTIST, KUN, CONQUERED THE EVENING AT THE NOVO THEATER IN DTLA WITH A SOLD OUT SHOW FOR THE FIRST STOP OF HIS 2026 “AN EVENING WITH KUN” WORLD TOUR, BY DON MARCELO

For any artist or musician who loves to perform live on stage, sold out shows represent the pinnacle of live performances. They create a euphoric experience for both the artist and the fans that will forever be embedded in their memories. For Chinese artist/singer/songwriter named KUN aka Cai Xukun 蔡徐坤, he and his loyal fans called IKUN once again experienced this euphoria on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at The NOVO Theater in DTLA just like they did on August 2, 2025 at The Henry Fonda Theater, but this time, there were twice as many IKUNs who came to The NOVO Theater.

IKUN – The Loyal and Dedicated Fans

IKUNs and KUN are synonymous for being “Ride Or Die” together until the end. KUN always tells the world “I love my fans. They are the best!” And he is right by saying this. His fans are loyal and dedicated to him. 

On this day, April 4th, many IKUNs have traveled from all over the globe to see KUN perform LIVE on stage once again here in Los Angeles.  Early risers stood in line in the early hours of the morning like Kai and Angelyn from Singapore who secured 1st and 2nd spots in line. Other IKUNs like Evelyn from San Francisco, Katherine from Hong Kong, and Nancy from Beijing China and her friend Evie from Wuhan China, and others whom I didn’t get a chance to meet were allowed to stand in line in the early hours of the morning. My IKUN friends I met last year, Mandy from Australia, YY from China, and Piper from China also got to stand in line early and secured a good spot with numbers 14, 15, and 16 in line. Afterwards, I got to meet some more IKUNs like Wendy from Chicago who got in line early as well and will see KUN in 5 cities, Cindy from Hong Kong, Violet from Michigan, and Nicole from Singapore. And a lot of these IKUNs are going to see KUN at least two or three times for his North American Tour with VIP 1 or 2 tickets. That’s loyalty. That’s dedication. That’s love. That’s “Ride or Die” mentality. 

I said it before from my last article  and I will say it again. IKUNs are the best fans in the world.

KUN – The Artist

Bob Marley once said, “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” When people ask me what type of music do you listen to, I always say, “I listen to a lot of JROCK Bands and Hard Rock for the most part.” So when SLR MAGAZINE got the call last year if we were interested in covering KUN’s 1st SOLO and special concert at The Fonda, I said yes to my Editor and I was up for something new and different than my normal rock bands I cover. I never thought in my life that KUN’s music would hit me hard. I became a fan of his music instantly after hearing and seeing his performance. When KUN sings, one feels true emotions and passion from him. You will fall in love with his voice. KUN’s voice type is described as a Tenor. And it was his falsettos that hit me hard and what sold me to his music. Also, KUN’s divine artistry and performance and emotive expressions on stage are something to watch for which also sold me to his music. Let’s just say that he has better moves than Jagger and more refined than Elvis. That’s why I was sold to KUN’s music. 

“AN EVENING WITH KUN” Tour at The NOVO DTLA was no different than last year except it was bigger and better. It was SOLD OUT with 2400 fans filling in the theater. It doubled from last year’s SOLD OUT show of 1200. Nothing more exciting than to see an artist’s growth and success to fame. It’s what they were meant to be. Hard work is paying off big for KUN. 

When showtime finally came, screaming fans yelled at the top of their lungs knowing exactly that their Artist was about to come out onto the stage. Silhouettes of each band member glided across the stage and walked towards their instruments. Fog and back lights remained active for a good minute or two while the band got ready. Then the band played their intro with killer guitar riffs and an earth shattering horn section. And then out of nowhere, “LIGHTS! CAMERAS! ACTION!” From out of the darkness, a lone figure dressed to the nines cloaked in red velvet suit and pants, a black shirt and a black tie with a pair of black gloves and wing tipped shoes appeared and launches himself onto the platform of the stage, grabbing the microphone with one hand and belted out the first song of the evening. KUN The Artist enthusiastically welcomed his fans with open arms.

Nothing short of fantastic is what I can say and describe about KUN The Artist. Once again he delivered a performance of a lifetime just like he did the first time I saw him in 2025. His vocals and his singing were all On Point. His charm and demeanor, eloquent and loved by everyone. His fashion sense, 100% exquisite, a true fashionista. His dancing and his performance, subtle and sweet and yet energized and explosive. A true superstar on stage fueled not by fire, but rather fueled by the authentic music he writes and sings from his heart and by the love and support of his fans. 

In short, The Real KUN is a True Art Form to be seen and heard LIVE on stage.

IN CONCLUSION:

One word to describe the entire concert show of KUN: EPIC! Congratulations to KUN and his team for a successful first show of this tour and for SELLING OUT tickets to the show. Have an amazing rest of your tour. A quick shout out as well to the staff of the NOVO DTLA for being gracious and helpful: The Supervisor who helped me find my friend’s black folder (sorry I didn’t get your name); to Maria another supervisor; to Dani for being so helpful and cheerful to all the fans and to me as well. Dani’s enthusiastic energy is truly infectious. Thank you Dani. And to Angel The Security for letting me charge my phone in the outlet for a few minutes where he was standing. Thank you KUN!
