Grand Ole Opry member and GRAMMY®, CMA, and ACM award winning singer-songwriter Ashley McBryde delivers another poignant preview from her forthcoming fifth album, Wild, today – “Lines In The Carpet.” Listen HERE.
Penned by Lauren Hungate, Caroline Watkins, and Lori McKenna, “Lines In The Carpet” arrives as a bright but devastating stunner about a woman caught in an emotionally barren marriage. An evocative picture of blissfully ignorant domesticity, McBryde laments with unflinching honesty:
She won’t tell him
He ain’t asking
Throw another towel in the laundry basket
She ain’t happy
What she needs she can’t buy at the supermarket
She’s a mess, but the house is clean
As the cover of Better Homes and Gardens
He can’t read between the lines in the carpet
She keeps pushing that Dyson everyday all over again
And he’ll come home from work tonight and walk all over them
“I see so many women I know in this song,” McBryde reflects. “There’s no promise in the lyrics that things are going to change or get better—it just stays with that feeling of being contained, and knowing that the person you’re with is completely oblivious to everything you’re feeling. This record is about getting back in touch with the Wild within. I think part of that means taking a good long look at what keeps us caged.”
Additional album previews “Bottle Tells Me So,” “Arkansas Mud,” “Rattlesnake Preacher,” and current chart-climbing country radio single “What If We Don’t” lay the four-corner foundation of Wild, tracing a captivating narrative that culminates in the moment just before McBryde quit drinking nearly four years ago. Due May 8 via Warner Records Nashville, pre-add / pre-save / pre-order Wild HERE.
This weekend, McBryde closes out her 2026 Redemption Residency at Chief’s on Nashville’s Lower Broadway with back-to-back “Mixed Tape From The Mixed Up Years” shows. Both nights bring decades’ worth of treasured deep cuts and jukebox classics to life, with full band sets covering the songs that made McBryde and members of her band, Deadhorse, want to make music in the first place.
McBryde just wrapped a spring run supporting longtime friend Eric Church, and will open shows for Garth Brooks and Chris Stapleton later this year. Full list of upcoming tour dates below.

About Ashley McBryde
GRAMMY®, CMA and ACM award winning singer-songwriter Ashley McBryde “has arrived” (CBS Sunday Morning). From playing back porches to biker bars across America’s Middle, to arenas, sheds, and stadiums around the world, the Arkansas native and Warner Records Nashville recording artist has dedicated her life to the craft of storytelling; “an artist with many things to say and a big enough voice to slice through the noise” (Rolling Stone).
The Grand Ole Opry member’s 2018 major label debut Girl Going Nowhere charmed The New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, Paste, The Washington Post and more, earning a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album. Follow-up Never Will is one of the only albums ever nominated for Country Album of the Year by the ACM, CMA, and the Recording Academy in the same awards season. Her collaborative project, Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, earned McBryde her third consecutive GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album, and opened up a parallel universe in homage to world-building song mastermind Dennis Linde that took the Nashville creative community by storm. Her latest, The Devil I Know, brought more critical acclaim, earning nods as one of the best country albums of the year from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Slate, PASTE, Holler and more.
In 2022, McBryde was honored with the CMA International Artist Achievement Award for the most significant creative growth, development and promotion of the country music industry outside of the U.S. Last year, she was awarded an honorary doctorate in music from her alma mater, Arkansas State University, for her significant contributions to the field.
Ashley opened her non-alcoholic forward concept, Redemption Bar, at home on the fifth floor of Eric Church’s Chief’s in Nashville last August, paired with her Redemption Residency at Chief’s Neon Steeple through mid-2026.
Hailed as “one of Nashville’s most reliable and sophisticated songwriters” (Los Angeles Times) McBryde will release her highly anticipated fifth studio album, Wild, on May 8 via Warner Records Nashville. Her current single to country radio and early preview of the record, “What If We Don’t,” is spinning nationwide now.
