SoCal based group The Sister Knot performed an intimate show at this year’s Rock Music Alliance summer showcase. The event was held at a private residence in Gardena, California and SLR Magazine had exclusive media access for this this really cool event. The Sister Knot is a four-piece band fronted by Tatiana Erse and Julia Lage. Tatiana and Julia are originally from Brazil and Tatiana is a well known artist who has played various venues throughout SoCal and Julia is the bass player for Vixen as well as Smith-Kotzen with her husband legendary guitarist Ritchie Kotzen. Rounding out the group is touring session guitarist Pablo Martins on lead guitar and Josh Zigler on drums. The music of this group is super approachable that is a mix of edgy and melodic rock with great harmonies between Tatiana and Julia and a sprinkling of their humor between songs — quite an entertaining show.
This show was for the Rock Music Alliance (RMA), a southern California based non-profit dedicated to recognizing the awarding rock artists that fills a gap left behind by the major award shows which have veered away from rock and more into the worlds of pop and hip-hop. The RMA has an annual process with selections of, nominations for and voting of music artists across various flavors of rock with awards given annually. This is an organization created by musicians for musicians and the funds raised by this event help with the running of the organization.
