Brooklyn-based indie rock artist MARK CIANI has released his new single, “Nothingness Blues,” the final preview of his forthcoming album, Utopia, arriving this Friday, August 21st.

One of the album’s most introspective moments, “Nothingness Blues” finds Ciani turning his attention toward mortality and the traces we leave behind. Thoughtful and deeply personal, the song adds another dimension to the wide-ranging themes explored throughout Utopia, arriving just days before the full record is unveiled.

Regarding the song, Ciani explains it’s “a companion piece to a song from my previous album, contemplating death, memory, and what it means to disappear without witnesses.”

“Nothingness Blues” follows recent singles “Fault Lines” and “Heaven Can’t Be Eternity,” each revealing a different side of an album built around questions of identity, grief, hope, uncertainty and the search for meaning.

Written in Brooklyn and recorded in Hurley, New York and Los Angeles, Utopia showcases Ciani’s continued evolution as a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Drawing from indie rock, alternative and power pop while embracing an expansive, cinematic approach, the record moves between intimate reflection and sweeping arrangements, with Ciani’s storytelling at its center.

With “Nothingness Blues” now out, the stage is set for the arrival of Utopia this Friday, August 21st.
