Los Angeles was already hot in the month of September 2026. The great all female band from Mexico, THE WARNING, elevated that heat to the next level of intensity with their SOLD OUT SHOWS and music and performance on day one and day two (the shows I got to see them perform) at the famous and historic music venue, The Fonda Theatre. As one would say in this generation’s language, “They were Fire as F*çK!”

Covering day one of their show on Wednesday, September 9th, S.L.R. MAGAZINE and I were there to experience this intense heat they brought with them with their explosive performance on stage and their electrifying and gritty sounds of hard rock music they are known for. Loyal fans of the band called TWA better known as The Warning Army (The official fandom name of THE WARNING) flew and came from all over the world to Los Angeles to experience their explosive shows. Some came for just one day and some came to see them on all 3 days. Regiments of The Warning Army, such as Paul from Montreal Canada along with his band of misfits, Neil from Boston, MA, Robert from Minneapolis, MN, David from Seattle, WA, Jen from Houston, TX, and Birgit from Germany camped out and in the front line at 4:30 am which they held onto the line of DAY ONE to claim the coveted bragging rights of being the first ones in line and in the front and center of the barricade. Another regiment of THE WARNING ARMY who I often see since they live very close to LA were Aaron and his wife from The OC and Rick and his wife originally from The OC and now resides in NV. This gang of misfits are die hard music fans and lovers since I often see them around LA whenever I cover a show. These TWAs truly are truly loyal to their ride or die.

THE WARNING was supported by another fiery performance from the opening support act, SPEED OF LIGHT for DAY 1 and DAY 2 of their 3 day shows in Los Angeles.

SPEED OF LIGHT – THE SUPPORT ACT ON DAY ONE .

Starting their musical journey and career as children who have been playing the LA circuit scene since 2016, The sibling trio band from Santa Monica, CA called SPEED OF LIGHT came to us on this night with such ferocious presence and a powerful performance which set the tone for one helluva rocking night. The band is fronted by a strong vocalist and bassist named Riley who is the sister of the band’s Axe Shredder (guitarist) , Cameron and their other brother, Tyler as the hard hitting drummer who keeps their heavy beats on time and on point. They are known for their dynamic presence and electrifying energy on stage with their punk rock and alt garage style of hard and heavy rock music.

Constantly moving around and rocking out with excitement from one part of the stage to another, Riley and Cameron moved and rocked out everywhere on stage showcasing their style of music while head banging and singing and playing their instruments and not missing a note. Tyler mirrored his siblings with his own style of rock motion and emotions behind the drums head banging, singing, and shouting without skipping a beat and always getting the audience to root and shout along with them.

SPEED OF LIGHT’S SETLIST on Day 1 included the following songs (according to Tyler, “Most of the songs we played are on our new album we finished recording over the summer. It hasn’t been released yet. Here’s the set-list we played both nights”):

1. Into the Wild

2. Teeth *

3. Inch by Inch *

4. Hollow

5. Fly

6. Blade

7. Seraphim

8. Death Blow

9. Kill the Vibe *

(* are released)

Pure Rock and Roll with elements of Punk attitude were seen, heard, and experienced by the audience all throughout their set. There wasn’t a single moment of awkward silence by the band nor by the audience. A constant motion of fierce energy was felt by every soul who saw them play on this night (and on day 2 as well as I got to see them again as a music fan this time and not as a music photographer in the photo pit).

This is one dynamic band that has the pure heart and soul of a rock band, full of intense energy fueled by passion and infused with charged emotions. A must see for everyone who loves Hard Rock/Punk Rock/Alt Rock/Garage Rock Music. Follow SPEED OF LIGHT on all their socials for more hard rocking music that’s louder and faster than the speed of sound.

THE WARNING – THE HEADLINER

After the breakdown of SPEED OF LIGHT’s set, staff of the venue worked hard to clear up the stage to set up the equipment for the headliner, making sure all the instruments were working properly and in tune for the next and final act of the evening. As the lights were dimmed, three silhouetted figures came out from the darkness and glided their way across the stage like angels. These angels I am referring to were none-other than the members of THE WARNING. Each member strutted their way to their respective area and greeted THE WARNING ARMY with love, waving at them and smiling effervescently to the audience as if each member of the band knew each and everyone of their fans.

This sense of greeting and belonging gave the gesture as if each person of THE WARNING ARMY was part of their bloodline and family. In return of this sweet gesture that THE WARNING gave to the audience, a thunderous roar and applause took place from THE WARNING ARMY which shook the inside of the theatre creating a flood of screaming adulations from each fan, showing their loyalty and love for the band.

THE WARNING consists of 3 young talented ladies from Mexico who are sisters, The Villareal Sisters:  Daniela aka Dany is the lead guitarist and vocalist as well as backing vocalist; Paulina aka Pau is the drummer and lead vocalist as well as the backing vocalist; and Alejandra aka Ale is the bassist and backing vocalist. Together they form one powerful hard rock band called THE WARNING.

Their setlist from DAY ONE included the following songs:

  • MORE
  • S!CK
  • Qué más quieres
  • Escapism
  • Bruises
    (live debut)
  • Ego
  • Bite My Tongue
  • MONEY
  • Bloodsport
    (live debut)
  • DISCIPLE
  • Ritual
  • Sharks
  • Hell You Call a Dream
  • Kerosene

Encore:

  • EVOLVE
  • Automatic Sun

With their distinct sounds of distorted and heavy riffs on guitar, hard pounding drums, bass licks that is both crisp and soulful and in turn will knock your socks off, and aggressive singing style by both Dany and Pau, this hard rock band showcased a flawless and stupendous performance from beginning all the way to the end. The audience were entranced throughout the evening, often singing along with them with raised arms and clenched fists or horns up high above their heads while head banging to each song and mimicking each member. A true delight to see from high above the balcony of The Fonda.

Overall, their performance was perfect. The songs they sang were all “Fire AF!” A delightful treat as my first time seeing and covering them LIVE on stage. Congratulations to THE WARNING on the release of their 5th Studio album. FOLLOW THE WARNING on all their socials for more
