For the second year in a row we have Weird Al doing a large North American tour of arenas and amphitheaters. The aptly named Bigger & Weirder tour is indeed BIG! To start off the band is 8 members, the usual drums, guitar, bass player and keyboardist that have been with him for decades but also 3 multi-talented women that do backup vocals but also play guitar, percussion and horns. The energy of the show is dialed up to 11 with Al wildly covering the stage like a twentysomething year old guy and even venturing up close and personal into the audience. Like last year’s tour this show basically is his greatest hits basically anything and everything you’ve wanted to hear live from Weird Al in a song-packed show that runs over 2 hours!  The rear of the stage is a giant video screen with thematic video and effects in conjunction with the music. Frequent costume changes happen and while that’s happening we get classic video snippets of Al in various interviews, cameos on cartoons and more in rapid fashion. This is a show where really isn’t even time to take a bathroom break, it’s a constant show with non-stop energy from start to finish. This is definitely an all ages show that included several families in attendance in an evening of music that is a crazy celebration of fun and weird, a much needed great escape from the seriousness in this day and age.

Opening the evening was Puddles Pity Party, an irreverent comedic clown who also one heckuva singer, the perfect opener for a perfect evening.  

This show continues to crisscross the US through the end of October, so if you have the chance to see this you’ll get your money’s worth. The tour winds it all up on Halloween Night at The Greek Theater in LA.
