While there is no official fall tour in place for legendary American hardcore hip-hop band Insane Clown Posse, the band is visiting various North American towns and drowning them in Faygo. This last Wednesday Juggalos converged into the New Jersey town of Sayreville, many with signature face paintings and ready to be doused in the insane amount of soft drinks.

So, why me. Yes, I don’t have much to do with anything that was going down this night in Starland Ballroom, but there was one very strong force that pulled me here – legendary and elaborate live performance from ICP, as well as the fact that I am not normal, so all this craziness was right up my alley.

I did not have much information about what was going on so I have not much that I can say about all aspiring artists that I saw performing before ICP. Still, I roamed around with my camera capturing their sets, so below you can get some insight of what I witnessed as well as Insta links. They did perform great sets, did the job of rallying the crowd and I am sure that they made some new fans as well.

ICP – Insane Clown Posse. Band consists of rappers Violent J (Joseph Bruce) and Shaggy 2 Dope (Joseph Utsler). Their name and cultural influence in enormous. Anyone outside hip-hop know them if not by name then by visual appearance. We all saw them somewhere, heard about them somewhere. The band has certainly carved their name not only in the history books of the music genre but in popular American culture as well. Their signature clown makeup is known all over the world.

Two men with face paint and elaborate hairstyles pose dramatically in front of a fiery explosion backdrop.

Let’s not forget their devoted fanbase that call themselves Juggalos. Listen, no artist can exist without devoted fanbase, but the connection between ICP and Juggalos is special. Juggalos held their gatherings / festivals for many years and had many notable artists attending those. They have created a certain street style, using their own slang and are certainly not afraid to swim in soda.

So, as for someone who is looking in from the outside into their world, it was once in a lifetime experience for me to be at ICP live show and rub my shoulders with all the Juggalos in attendance.

What did I learn? The statement that ICP puts up a tremendous live show is fully justified. From the first moment to the last moment of the show the energy, the music, the clowns, the soda and all the insanity was hitting 100% constantly. It was impossible to stay still or not be overtaken by all of the energy and atmosphere. I did stay dry, first of all protecting my gear, and just not as brave as everyone else. Yet, I would go though this experience one more time, just as a spectator and experience this madness fully. I recommend this show to everyone don’t matter the music taste, just to have fun and experience something that you will never forget.

Unofficial setlist for the night – Dead Body Man, Hokus Pokus (Headhunta’z Remix), Let’s Go All the Way (Sly Fox cover), My Axe, Mr. Happy, Fuck the World, Tilt-A-Whirl, The Neden Game, Halls of Illusions, Play With Me, We Belong, Birthday Bitches, In My Room, Assassins (Geto Boys cover), Down With the Clown (Billie Jean background music), Pass Me By.
