On Sunday November 1st, I had to make sure I hit The Whisky a go go in West Hollywood, especially because my favorite female rock band unpolished* was performing. These young ladies always bring superb energy no matter what stage they’re on. They stepped onto The Whisky stage and brought pure raw energy. Watching their growth has definitely been fun since 2024. Their music is like a cross between 90’s grunge, Avril Lavigne, and a little My Chemical Romance mixed in.
unpolished* consists of
Mary- Vocalist
Santos- Bassist
Celinda- Guitarist
Jasmine- Drummer
These young ladies always light up the stage, and their shows are killer. Their set included all original songs including my favorite song “Ghost,” “Copy/paste,” among others. The band dynamic and bond these ladies share is definitely unmatched and you can see it at every show.
Mary belting out every note and interacting with Celinda, Santos, and Jasmine brings a playful twist. Celinda runs around the stage, does the splits, occasionally jumps, and plays the guitar behind her back while delivering killer guitar riffs. Santos and Celinda come up with different ways to interact, and every time is unique. Santos makes those deep cuts look so easy. And of course Jasmine rocks the drum kit, she is a very cool drummer.
They put out their second EP earlier this year and includes “accept me,” “doghouse,” and “feet pics”
This is a female rock band you need to go check out, especially when they perform live. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.
