The breakup that followed, the struggle and hope that the feelings would fade over time… but realizing that the fight to move on was a waste of time, because that person was always the one.

Maria Smith (vocals, guitar) and Victor Thell (vocals, guitar, production) have simultaneously established themselves as one of Sweden’s most sought-after songwriter and producer duo. Previously winning the 2020 Swedish Grammy award for Composer of the Year, their writing credits for artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Ava Max, Martin Garrix, Alan Walker among others, account for well over 4 billion streams. The duo has been honoured with awards like Dennis Pop Rookie of the Year (selected by Max Martin), Los Angeles Musexpo New Emerging International Artist and Swedish Rockbjornen Best Group 2021.
Smith & Thell wrap stadium-size pop in warm and eloquent folk. After generating streams in the billions, selling out tours, and attracting a devout audience, the group has continued to captivate since their formation in 2012. Growing up in Sweden, they both embraced music as children. Victor developed an appreciation for string instruments and played classical in orchestra. Meanwhile, Maria performed in the community program Rock and Roll for Kids, launching a punk band at 13-years-old. The two became best friends and started to write and record together as teens. On the heels of 2017’s Soulprints, they emerged as an international phenomenon with Pixie’s Parasol during 2021. With incredible momentum, they earned consecutive number ones at Swedish radio and generated hundreds of millions of streams. The success of “Forgive Me Friend” [feat. Swedish Jam Factory] even translated overseas, cracking the Top 25 at US Alternative Radio. Along the way, the pair shared the stage with the likes of Young The Giant, The Head and The Heart, and Fitz and The Tantrums.
