TURNING JANE, an all female hard rock band, who opened up for Ultimate Jam Night’s x Gritty in Pink’s: “A NIGHT HONORING WOMEN IN MUSIC on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at The World Famous Whisky A Go Go started the fire and festivities and cranked up the volume and heat with their heart-pounding, hard rocking music.

Turning Jane is based out of The Los Angeles Area and is led by the powerful and smooth vocals of Taylor Heart; The sweet and slick style, finger dancing on the frets, guitar shredder, Izzy; the kickass, hard pounding, head banging style of Jordi on drums; And last, but not the least, we have Marin with her harmonious and cool grooves on bass.

Having photographed and covered hundreds of bands at The World Famous Whisky A Go Go, I have never seen such a turnout on the number of Pro Photographers in the “Photo Pit” area on this night. The last I counted there were 13 of us Media/Pro Photographers. I stopped counting as soon Turning Jane started, but I’m sure there were at least 3 to 6 more whom I didn’t see. The place got packed quickly on a Tuesday night.

Turning Jane did not disappoint at all. In fact I became an instant fan on this night. I never heard their music before until this night. I was convinced by my two “uncles” from Orange County, CA (Aaron and Rick and they are not really my uncles) to go because they raved and praised Turning Jane so much on their Instagram accounts and one “uncle” asked me if I were coming. I told him that I was busy on this night but if I can get a ride from someone, I will make it. Fortunately for me I did make it for Turning Jane’s set. Unfortunately for me I did not get to see the rest of the Jam Night due to the fact I was with someone who offered to give me a ride but she could only stay for Turning Jane’s set.

But I digress…the music of Turning Jane is off the charts. Their music has this blend of classic hard rock with lots of modern hard rock and alternative rock all blended together. Their energy was non-stop, kick-ass, and wild with a groove and rhythm that will keep you head bopping and head banging all night long. Let’s just say my neck was sore the next day. Ha!

On their performance, these ladies are focused on their art and their craft and they were there to ensure that the audience was having a great time. They even surprised us with a brand new song (about ex’s) that they have never played live before. Izzy even gave “the bird” to all the ex’s. I’m sure we can all relate to the song about our ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends one way or another. As described on Turning Jane’s website (www.turningjane.com), “This powerhouse group has been making waves with their unique blend of raw energy, infectious melodies, and empowering lyrics.” These ladies truly know how to capture the audience’s attention with their powerful music, beautiful and well written lyrics, and hard rocking energy.

Overall a great night was experienced by me and others. Truly a stunning and spectacular band and show worth seeing over and over and over again.

Thank you to Ultimate Jam Night and Gritty in Pink for hosting a great event. Thank you to the World Famous Whisky A Go Go for always being a gracious host to all the musicians and us pro photographers. Thank you to Turning Jane for a great show and the great music. And thank you to my two “uncles” who introduced me to Turning Jane.

Now stop reading this and go check out Turning Jane and support them. Oh and go see them at their next LIVE show and follow them on all their socials.
