On May 23rd, 2024 at The Irving Plaza in New York City
Japanese reggae punx SiM have completed PLAYDEAD World Tour Season 1, their very first North American headlining tour with special guests Fame on Fire and Within Destruction. One of the last shows took place in New Yor City’s The Irving Plaza. This was the bands first show in NYC, and the bands vocalist noted, that they missed the last year’s show while supporting Dance Gavin Dance because of the weather related cancellation and thanked all fans for the support.

The first band that I witnessed was the rock band from Florida called Fame On Fire. To date the band has released two studio albums. They started out as a cover band but have quickly established themselves as a formidable new force in modern rock.
During their performance the band played one cover song “Kryptonite” that was 3 Doors Down breakthrough hit song. Fame On Fire version was simply amazing, and while I can’t say that it was better than original, I must say that it was simply amazing.
Most played was their recent release called Welcome To Chaos, that was released back in 2022, and was represented by four songs – Cut Throat, Ketamine, Plastic Heart and title song.
Overall bands performance was filled with energy and excitement and the crowd approved their performance with loud ovations.

For me it was long awaited moment to see SiM (Silence iz Mine), a Japanese alternative metal band who identify themselves as reggae punk music. While the band was formed sometime around 2004, I discovered them only last year after their hit The Rumbling made waves through North American radio stations. And I’ve been listening to their work since. And yes, I can agree on all definitions of their music style, they are hard rock alternative metal reggae punk rock band. Yes, they cover a large swath of sonic range. And in my opinion that is exactly what makes this band so interesting.
Current members are MAH on SHOW-HATE on guitars, keyboards and backing vocals, SIN on bass guitar and backing vocals and GODRi on drums and backing vocals. All guys are very involved in the live show. What do I mean by that? There are times you might not notice the drummer much except hearing drums or notice bass player much as he stays in the corner. Not here, not SiM. All guys have larger than life attitude and each one interacts with audience and is “noticeable” at all times.
SiM played fairly short set for a headliner band consisting of twelve songs, but maybe it is even better as the fans were yearning for more. The band tours in support of their last years release Playdead released via UNFD. Total of five songs were performed from this album, with few bits and pieces touching almost every single studio album, while giving the fans a full picture of the bands progression in sound and songs.
