There is NOTHING unpolished about the band called unpolished* (the asterisk is part of the name and is spelled in lower caps). This band of rebels is an up and coming LA based all female alt/punk rock group that was formed by lead Vocalist Mary Bugbee when serendipity crossed paths between Mary Bugbee and Guitarist Celinda Chang at the World Famous Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, CA.

Vocalist Mary Bugbee has been a huge music fan her entire life. Her style and approach in music is heavily influenced by such famous and iconic musicians such as Dead Sara, Dominic Fike, & Lady Gaga.
Celinda Chang, a good friend of mine whom I met a couple of years ago (or as I often call her “The Flying Shredding Penguin because she often loves to “fly” and jump high on stage while shredding her axe and she loves penguins) is a self-taught guitarist of three years who plays with a number of bands & artists throughout LA. She takes influence from bands like My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, and Green Day.
After their serendipitous meeting, The two quickly became friends and recruited Jazmin Alvarez and Jasmine Day for the rhythm section and they’ve been lightning in a bottle ever since.
Jazmin Alvarez, fairly new in playing bass guitar, is also self-taught. She found her passion for bass after joining unpolished* a little over five months ago. She has always had an affinity for music with inspirations like Maná, Hole, Hombres G, and Loathe.
Finally, Jasmine Day, another self-taught musician, is unpolished* band’s drummer, She is a multi-faceted artist that found herself playing for various LA bands and artists after moving to LA just over two years ago. She is inspired by bands such as My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides, and She Wants Revenge.
Together, the group unpolished* is formed. They hope to inspire womankind and mankind to embrace their imperfections and not be ashamed of them, especially in such a heavily filtered world. They currently have nine original songs under their belt and are writing more everyday. Some fan favorites include ‘hollybaby’, ‘ghost’, and ‘copy/paste’.
Upcoming shows are with Blueprint Sessions, a live taping session in Westlake Village, on August 25th and at Universal Bar & Grill in North Hollywood on August 29th.
