From Ashes To New have recently released their fourth studio album “Blackout”, that is loaded with hits that quickly have become a fan favorites. At the end of the last year band embarked in highly successful headline Blackout Tour Part 1 to support the release. S.L.R. Magazine was able to catch up with the band on their stop in Sayreville, NJ. Read about that show here:
The band just doesn’t stop touring and after their headline shows have lended their support to Nothing More and after that went on to support Set It Off on their Deathless Tour Part 2. All of the From Ashes To New shows are filled with tremendous energy from start to finish. Their music is a perfect blend of electronic, rock, metal and hip-hop. Some may see some similarities with original Linkin Park, utilizing similar sonic approach and having two vocalists. While I have read bands comments that they would prefer not be labeled as following in steps of Linkin Park, the influence is notable and nothing to be ashamed of. The band perfectly mixes rap with singing and more metal like vocals. Music has the electronic rhythm tunes with aggressive guitar riffs and drums. The main theme that one would notice is the catchy choruses that the band often employs. Live shows are full of hand waving and jumping to the catchy tune of their songs.
This set was particularly made of the songs from Blackout with few of their oldest hits hits mixed in. Band opened with four songs taken from their latest album – Nightmare, Dead To Me, Heartache and Monster In Me that was preceded by the excerpt from anime movie ……………. . At this point those songs are already established fan favorite hits. During the next song song bands vocalist Matt Brandyberry stopped the song midway as he noticed fan in distress at the front row. While making sure that emergency is averted band did not finish the song due time constraints but the audience had no issue with that as the well being of all fans is more important.
So to speak, the second part of the show went into the high gear with Barely Breathing that was tearing though Rock charts in US. New release Hate Me Too and a song form the previous album eponymous hit Panic set a stage for a thunderous finale. The bands breakout song and arguably the biggest hit to date Through It All followed. Fan delight was brought to a whole different level with the set closing song Nothing, that had literally everything – the circle pit, crowd surfing and nasty breakdown, that left all those in the audience in the awe.
