From the heart of Hollywood. Where LA hard rock and LA punk rock intertwine, comes Hollywood Apocalypse. On Tuesday December 31st, 2024 I had the chance to go see this band at The Whisky A Go Go on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, CA. What a great way to end 2024 by checking out a new band, which includes a good friend of mine. The turnout was bigger than I expected, especially for New Years Eve. This band has a huge following already, and very loyal fans.
The band as it is today took forever to form. At first it was just Ivan and a couple of these dudes he paid to play before the pandemic hit. Rotten Rollin and Proto joined the band in early 2022. Lisa came in mid 2022. Celinda joined mid 2023, and at some point there was one more guitarist named Tape but due to a personal matter we needed to let him go.
They did a full set of songs written by Ivan. This band is superbly distinct, and cannot be compared to any other bands. They stand out on their own, and march to their own drum. Ivan’s vocals, and guitar sound are more than distinct and completely loved by his fans. The rest of the band draws the best out of him, and brings their sound to a level I have only heard from this band. The entire band’s stage presence shows in their shows.
They have a unique pop/alternative/rock twist to their music, which you don’t hear much of these days. Each band member brings their own unique sound to each song which really takes them to their own distinctiveness. I can’t wait to see them grow and continue to follow their journey.
