Growing up and listening to a lot of death rock music, new wave and hard rock, glam rock and heavy metal in the late 80’s and early 90’s, for me, there is something to be said about bands of today’s generation who have influences from that era especially the ones that are mysterious and dark with heavy-soothing and aggressive sounds. I grew up listening to bands such as Bauhaus, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, The March Violets, Christian Death, Love and Rockets, Depeche Mode, Garbage, Korn, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Skid Row, The Cult, and more. Those bands and their music are gratifying to listen to for me because of their out of the box thinking and writing and they are visually mesmerizing to watch because of their creative ways of performing, singing, and entertaining. This is what Dead Posey is to me. An amalgamations of all these bands put together as one.

I have wanted to see DEAD POSEY for awhile now and I finally had the pleasure of seeing and photographing their live show on this night. And I was so glad I got to see them on this night despite being a little late due to heavy LA traffic. Thus, I didn’t get a good position to photograph the bands on this night since I didn’t get to shoot in the front part of the floor area. And everyone is taller than me. Just the facts (insert smiley emoji here).

DEAD POSEY is fronted by lead vocalist, Danyell Souza who hypnotizes you with her stares while inviting you to be part of her world immersing you into a state of mind-bending pleasures in your brain while singing to you so eloquently as if you are the only person she is singing to. Her partner in crime is Tony Fagenson who shreds his guitar and enthralls you to watch him with his bewitching style of axe shredding. Their drummer is Jon Siren whom I have seen performed a couple of times already in the past. Just him alone I knew that I was going to have an amazing time because Jon has this powerful presence with his drums pounding aggressively on his his instrument and gracefully headbanging at the same. One can easily be charmed just watching him beat those drums all night long.

DEAD POSEY’s performance this evening was truly stunning and enchanting with their dark and hard and heavy sounds.

Overall, a fantastic show in which I would love to see again in the future.
