Written by Haven, Mary Kutter, Jordan Sherman and Andrew DeRoberts, who also produced the song, “Why Do the Pills Work” is a deeply personal and hauntingly raw track that explores themes of mental health, resilience, and the search for clarity in the chaos. Known for her emotive storytelling and fearless honesty, Haven delivers a track that cuts deep—both lyrically and sonically. “Why Do the Pills Work” pairs vulnerable, diary-like confessions with a soaring melody, making it one of her most powerful releases to date. The song encapsulates the complexities of struggle and healing, offering a voice to those navigating similar battles.

Haven shares, “I had just started taking anxiety medicine. I was a mess and then one day I woke up—I was in a whole new world. And I remember thinking, is this what being normal feels like? I went home and wrote in my journal, why do the pills work?”

The single is accompanied by a visually stunning music video that brings Haven’s vision to life. Directed by Jon Vulpine, the video is an evocative representation of the song’s emotional depth, capturing the tension between darkness and hope.

Haven can be seen debuting her new track live at Audacy’s upcoming annual “Leading Ladies” concert at the historic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn on April 3rd. The intimate event, which celebrates women in music, will also feature Gwen Stefani, Lainey Wilson, Alessia Cara and Kassi Ashton. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
