This past Saturday night saw the second edition of Women Rock LA take place here in SoCal. at Daddy Diamonds in Hollywood. This sold-out event delivered a high-energy sampler of women rockers currently on the LA music scene, a potpourri of a show which included rock, alt rock, hard rock and punk music along with burlesque, dance and a magic show.

The genesis of Women Rock LA happened in 2024 when music artists Jules Quaas (of Jules and the Howl) and Bre Podgorski (AKA Bre) set a plan in place for a double-headlining show. During the planning for this show the brainstorming morphed into a bigger vision as both thought it would be cool to feature other women artists they like. This first event was such a success it paved the way for this turning into something more than a one-off event. This year’s event featured acts that in themselves are all headliners that are assembled together for one high energy night of music for the delight of the packed house. All acts delivered blazingly great music. Included on the bill were organizers Jules & The Howl & Bre along with unpolished*, Lizi & Bruvvy plus a sprinkling of artistic dance with Midnight Show, magic with Velvet Illusions, and a very tongue-in-cheek burlesque performance by Anna Shevitz.

We’re living in an interesting time here in LA where we’re seeing the emergence of a women-driven scene that is really getting some legs, Women Rock LA, Gritty In Pink and the forthcoming Girlactic Fest later this summer. It’s a really cool time to be here in LA.

The gallery below features a collection of images from this Women Rock LA except for Bruvvy which will be featured separately by another SLR contributor Denise Johnson.
