With the support from Zero 9:36 and Set It Off at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey on May 9th, 2025

Hollywood Undead and Tech N9ne embarked last month on the second leg of their sold out North American tour. This leg included a lot of Canadian dates. Zero 9:36 and Set It Off joined the tour. On May 9th,  the last day of the tour,  the show took place in legendary Sayreville, New Jersey. Overall this bill included bands that could easily sell out places on their own, so to no surprise this was officially Sold Out show and The Starland Ballroom was as full as it could be, with people lining up the hallways just to hear the music.

First on the night was Zero 9:36, an American rapper / rocker who adopted his stage name based on the time he was born. Calling the neighboring state of Pennsylvania his home he is no stranger performing in Jersey. Relatively new to the music scene by releasing his first studio album in 2000 he is gaining momentum and following fast. Now three studio albums under his belt Zero 9:36 is cementing his place in the genre of mixing rap and rock. The night’s headliners are mentioned by him as his early influences. While his time on the stage was limited, he delivered a worthy performance supporting the following artists. Crowd was very pleased with what they heard. During the last song The End he was joined on the stage by Charlie Scene from Hollywood Undead.

Alternative Rock / Pop Punk band from Tampa, Florida came next. Oh boy, their performance was on fire from the start to the finish. Vocalist Cody Carson brought the crowd under his control within the very first moments. Performance was full of energy, and the band kicked it off with a proper banger, their latest single “Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing (Reborn)”. The band released their last album called Elsewhere back in 2022, and since then have been releasing singles, rather than the new album. So this setlist mostly consisted of their non album latest singles such as – Evil People, Fake Ass Friends, Parasite, Punching Bag and Win Win. While I missed the chance to see them last year on The Deathtless tour, I just wouldn’t miss my opportunity this time around. This was my introduction to the band (yes, they flew off the radar for me all this time), and they did gain a new fan.

Legendary rapper whose career spans 29 years by the stage name Tech N9ne took the stage to the raucous ovation. He was greeted as a legend! His fans came here in numbers, I counted quite a few Strange T-Shirts in the crowd. The place instantly became a party zone. Total count of the songs in his set probably went into thirty, I did lose my count at around 20th. I usually don’t see many rap or hip-hop artists in my life, so this was a refreshing experience. While his songs mostly are short time wise, I believe he might have shortened some on purpose as well. It felt like a greatest hits medley, and the fans loved every second of it. I certainly would love to see his performance again.

Rap Rock legends from Los Angeles, California The Hollywood Undead took the stage to close out the tour and night. This was my second time seeing the band live, with another time being back in 2019. I feel tempted to compare. In 2019 they concentrated on album V (five), which was their fifth album and first for the band as a five piece, after Da Kurlzz departure. This time around it was more as a retrospective spanning though most of their career. Back in time I left with the feeling of seeing a kick ass rock concert, and this time with the feeling of one hell of a party! Since 2017 the band’s lineup has stayed intact with J-Dog, Funny Man, Charlie Scene, Johnny 3 Tears and Danny. They opened their set with Riot from the album V. Interesting moment came when the band got ready to play Comin In Hot. They pulled from the audience about five or six youngsters, all by the looks of them under 10 year olds. First, Charlie Scene asked everyone who is their favorite band member. Charlie Scene was voted in as the most liked (not without any of his encouragement) which prompted him flashing his middle finger to the rest of the band. Kids stayed on the stage to help the band perform this song. After that they were sent back to their parents. Overall their set was full of energy and positive vibes. Memorable show that will be remembered for a while.
