Norwegian metal mainstays Enslaved made a quick run through US and Canada playing shows in Montreal and New York City. In Montreal they were supported by Spectral Wound and in New York City by The Infinity Ring. After these two dates the band is heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to take part in a legendary Milwaukee Metal Fest.

Promotional poster for Enslaved's 2025 tour in the United States and Canada, featuring tour dates in Montreal, New York City, and Milwaukee, with supporting acts Spectral Wound and The Infinity Ring.

With a little delay, the show started with The Infinity Ring who hails from Boston, Massachusetts. The ensemble or collective would be more proper term to address them than a band. It was like an orchestra on the stage with three guitar players, a violin player, two drummers (more precisely one could be called a percussionist) and a keyboard player. While I could not find the proper term for their music style online, I would define them as doom – progressive – psychedelic metal music. Overall, it is a very interesting band. Well, judge yourself at the following Spotify link below:

Enslaved released their latest album in 2023 called Heimdal. After that the band toured extensively to support release, so this quick tour is more like a cherry on top and just a general tribute to their fans in both cities.  Setlist for this night in NYC included songs spanning their vast discography and only three songs from Hemdal. They opened the set with Ethica Odini, Homebound (while directing special attention to a select superfans in the audience) and Kingdom, with these songs completing the set – Ruun, Forest Dweller, Jotunblod, The Dead Stare, Havenless, Fenris, Heimdal, Slaget I Skogen Bortenfor and ending it with Isa.

While I am familiar with the band and we have covered extensively their Heimdal release here at S.L.R. Magazine, it was a pleasure to see them perform live. Their performance was brilliant and memorable. If you are lucky enough to be on Friday in Milwaukee, make sure to catch up with Enslaved.
