Well, I live in New Jersey not far from New York City, and you would think I should have learned about the traffic and parking, but noooo … Anyhow, I did had a glimpse of The Home Team performance, and they were great! At least I had some time to enjoy my first trip to New York City’s pristine concert venue Pier 17. Located on the shopping / restaurant buildings roof, with amazing views of Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan’s financial districts skyline, East River and Brooklyn.
Dance Gavin Dance took the stage with the sunset coming over Manhattan and buildings glowing with their illuminated windows, creating a beautiful visual backdrop. Their set list for the night consisted of the songs like War Machine, The Robot With Human Hair Pt. 2 ½, Need Money, Straight From the Heart, Blue Dream, The Backwards Pumpkin Song, The Robot With Human Hair Pt. 3, Burning Down the Nicotine Armoire, All the Way Down, Uneasy Hearts Weigh the Most (with Brian Butcher) and The Ghost of Billy Royalton. From the upcoming album Pantheon due for the release on September 12th they played two songs Speed Demon and Midnight at McGuffy’s. Band has released ten studio albums to date and has been active for twenty years now, with ever growing pool of fans.
The performance was electric. Both the band’s vocalists Jon Mess and Andrew Wells delivered the goodies with the perfect harmony between clean and unclean vocals, with everyone else giving their best to the sold out crowd in NYC. Their onstage persona had me at little pop punkish feeling, fun and fierce.
