On Friday September 19, 2025 I was invited out to the iconic venue The Whisky a go go in West Hollywood, CA to see a band called The Detours. I first learned about them in August, when I was at The Whisky, they were one of the opening bands, and they totally blew me away. I know two of the band members from another local band I have worked with previously. These four talented young men create a very cool alternative/pop sound. The lead singer Brett reminds me of a mixture of Blake Shelton and Jakob Dylan (The singer of The Wallflowers).  A little bit of country mixed with a hint of alternative/rock.

Their set list included all original songs written by the band, which included  Lonely in LA, Chasing, Say Hello, and they ended their set with a cover of Running Down a Dream with a little of their own vibe to it. They definitely brought their energy to The Whisky Friday night! The first night I saw them live in August, I became an instant fan. I wish I had known about them before, but I am so glad I learned about them regardless. They definitely love engaging with the crowd, and the crowd definitely loved them.

The band includes Brett Kohler: Lead Singer and Lead Guitarist, Ryan Clure: Bassist; Misha Molove: Guitarist; Jake Bell: Drummer, who filled in for John Keyes Friday night.
Brett is an exquisitely talented guitarist, and has his own unique distinctive sound, and then adding in Misha it enhances the distinct sound. Of course the Bassist Ryan throws in his own one-of-a-kind sound, and the drums always tie it all together.

I can’t wait to continue to support them and can’t wait for their next show!
