The Oxys’ new studio album titled, Casting Pearls Before Swine, is out now on Cleopatra Records. Formats include vinyl LP/CD available HERE and digital available HERE.
“‘Eaten Alive’ was inspired by the true story of my great uncle Joe Ball,” frontman and band co-founder Phil Davis says. “It perfectly fit the album’s dark themes, so we knew it had to be included. Fun fact: Tobe Hooper’s film Eaten Alive was loosely based on the Butcher of Elmendorf aka Joe Ball.”
“I wrote this music while playing with Dead Boys,” says guitarist and band co-founder Jason “Ginchy” Kottwitz, “it’s very much in that spirit. It wasn’t until after I gave it to Phil that I learned about his family’s “dark secret.” This just confirmed my suspicions about our singer – and why I like to keep my guitar solos short. He might feed me to the ‘gators.”
WATCH “EATEN ALIVE” MUSIC VIDEO HERE:
The “Eaten Alive” video was co-produced by Austin Kranick and Phil Davis. Austin Kranick also handled camera and editing. The video depicts a lurid Southern gothic scene of violence, depravity, and a legend sealed in blood and myth. “Eaten Alive” is the true-crime inspired tale of Joe Ball, the infamous “Butcher of Elmendorf,” who allegedly fed victims to his alligators.
The Oxys began back in 2021 when Ginchy (Dead Boys, Sylvain Sylvain and the Sylvains) and frontman Phil Davis managed to smash the monotony of pandemic life by channeling their collective energy into music and creativity. By December of 2022, they put out their first full length record, A Date With The Oxys (Dead Beat Records). Following much critical acclaim for their debut, they delivered Generation Irrelevant just 12-months later, again garnishing favorable worldwide press. With rhythm guitarist Genocide, bassist Michael Harpel and newest addition drummer Logan Flaherty, the band is ready to hit the road in 2025. Dates already confirmed are listed below and will be updated HERE.
