On November 1st, 2025 at The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ with the support from Onyx, Bayway, Sworn Enemy and Swollen Teeth

Undisputed hardcore legends Biohazard just wrapped their thunderous tour Divided We Fall with the support from Onyx, Bayway, and Swollen Teeth. Last Saturday NY metal band Sworn Enemy joined the fray in Sayreville show. I will not delve to some controversy and cancellations that surrounded this shortened tour, instead I will note that all who came out in masses were blown away by the ferocity of all the bands on the bill. Biohazard once again proved that there will be no one else like them. Not sure if officially The Starland Ballroom was deemed as a sold out, but trust me, I’ve been there a hundred times and this was as full as it gets. Biohazard team on socials called it a total War Zone, as the energy of the crowd was unmatched.

American metal band Swollen Teeth burst onto the scene in 2023 with their self-titled EP, masks, hospital scrubs and mostly spending their time in the dark. They are heavy and a bit chaotic, but seems like it is their own style. Swollen Teeth Are Megaa – Vocals / Sampler / Turntable, Sun – Vocals / Bass, Skutch – Drums and HOG – Guitar. The band is just scraping the surface about their possibilities, and released their full length Ask Nothing this year. Their self-titled EP was produced by Slipknot’s DJ Sid Wilson and Russ Robinson. They do have a little Slipknot vibe to them.

Sworn Enemy are metal / hardcore band from Queens, New York and were added to this show late. Current band members are – Sal Lococo on vocals, Jeff Cummings on lead guitar, Matt Garzilli on rhythm guitar, Mike Pucciarelli on bass and Taykwuan Jackson on drums. This band was born to play live shows. Their set was absolute firecracker. Each of the band members brought a different vibe, some hardcore, some punk, some metal. Together they performed like well oiled machine. While the band has been around for three decades for me this was a first time and a revelation. Sworn Enemy links

Homecoming !!! New Jersey own hardcore rising giants Bayway came up on the stage next. Originated only a few years ago in Elizabeth, NJ ( I know this city well, lived in it for a few years ) the band is rising fast. Bands vocalist Jayway saluted local folks multiple times and brought up New Jersey chant often. He is joined by Chris Halpin on guitar, Tito Valentin on guitar, Dave Mericle on drums and Diego Galarraga on bass. The band’s wild energy and no frills attitude was all evident this night. Jayway jumped down to barricade to sing along with fans. While I never shy away from talking some shit, at times general name calling and expletives by Jayway were starting to feel a bit overboard, and as I heard some from crowd I was not alone, but I assume it is his style and it goes hand in hand in hardcore scene. Altogether it was a blast, and I have a feeling that this band will go places.

OK, so who is up for some hip-hop. Alright, some hardcore hip-hop. So, here we go. American hardcore hip hop group from New York City, formed in 1988 called Onyx has shook the world for a long time. Influential band are best known for their 1993 platinum hit single “Slam”, which introduced the art of slam dancing into hip-hop. For me, well, I recognized their logo immediately as it was fashionable icon back in time when I lived in Elizabeth. Musically I did not have familiarity with them. Their performance was great. The crowd jammed and danced showing undoubted approval. Band addressed New Jersey crowd expressing their New York’s neighborly and brotherly love. The biggest hit Slam was the bands closing song sending all the hardcore fans in frenzy.

Four bands later, half dazed and confused, a bit too much beer consumed, we all waited for the mighty Biohazard. All this nonsense about tour having problems was firmly behind us and forgotten. Capacity crowd was buzzing with electricity waiting for the band to come up on stage. In Your Face !

My own two worthless cents. Biohazard is not only the biggest hardcore band but one of the biggest metal bands. I remember listening to them in the beginning of the 90’s, and they were literally up to par with Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth and all other heavy hitters of the time. I believe if this reunion will go on and persevere, the band will regain the groove for touring, the next shows will be sold out in much bigger venues. Why?

The bands classic lineup from the golden days Billy Graziadei on vocals/guitar, Bobby Hambel on lead guitar, Danny Schuler on drums and Evan Seinfeld on vocals/bass are pure joy to watch. They have not lost a single ounce of the energy. Their performance can power Boeing 747 for the takeoff. Billy did suffer a head injury in the early part of the tour, and that has not slowed him once. I am younger than Evan by ten years, and I envy his body and energy. Danny and Bobby are still full of youthful power. The bands performance was like no other – deafening, vigorous, vicious and you can insert your own definition to follow. Billy even jumped into the crowd and stood on the shoulders of the fans while playing the song. If I am not mistaken it was during Wrong Side of the Tracks.

Biohazard has released a brand new album Divided We Fall via BLKIIBLK label and played three songs from it this night. Order ‘Divided We Fall’ HERE . They blended seamlessly with their older hits. And of course my absolute favorites from the days past – Punishment, Tales From The Hard Side and How It Is.
