Thrash giants Death Angel invaded the historic Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo this last week as part of their continuing 2025-26 tour and delivered one heckuva a high energy evening of music. One cool feature of this tour is that the band is performing their epic 1990 release “Act III” in its entirety along with other Death Angel thrash metal anthems. Together for 36 years now these guys are still at the top of their game and the energy level is dialed up to 11. Unlike other thrash metal act these guys bring in symphonic and acoustic elements into their music that really sets them apart from their peers. The versatility and musicality of what they do is really good, and was pivotal for getting the attention of Geffen Records who released the Act III album.

Overall the live show is energetic, the music is catchy with front-man Mark Osegueda masterfully delivering the vocals. For this headlining tour we also get the stories of the songs which is really cool, great insights. The group finishes up this coming week in the US before a full summer tour across Europe. If you have the chance to see the group in this current or for a future tour you’re in for quite the show. This author is not typically following this genre of music, but these guys are awesome and a must-see!
