Flyleaf is back! The band is engaged in the comeback tour though North America following their reunion with original vocalist Lacey Sturm. While this run lasts only till the end of the month it includes fourteen shows. This Monday July 13th New Jersey showed up in The Wellmont Theatre for unforgettable Sold Out show.

I never had a chance to see the band live through their heydays but I did follow up on their music. I did get smitten by Again, I’m So Sick and All Around Me, their big hits, but never really dived in the other material. With this show coming up I did just that and familiarized myself with broader spectrum of their songs and I got more excited to see them live. Band did not dissapoint.
Flyleaf came out on stage after Chevelle’s The Red blasted through the speakers in the venue, and they followed up themselves with one banger after another. The first three songs got rounded up by fierce Again. Lacey was her usual self, emotional and raw, delivering the songs with unparalleled passion. Bassist Pat Seals gave the band an extra zestiness, with his heavy metal guy charisma and stage presence. On other hand the Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann gave the band that little calm and lovable dad type look. Probably a stupid comparison, but kind of resembling the sound of the band – a fierce elements intertwining with smooth melody. James Culpepper at the drums was fierce. The whole band poured their souls out for their fans.
I never saw Flyleaf with Kristen May, but from my experience with the band, this is the real Flyleaf. Lacey brings the life to each song and creates that emotional edge that otherwise might be missing. Yes, Flyleaf is back !!!
