It was Saturday, August 15th, 2026, but not a typical Saturday, as it was my good friend Dave’s birthday, and he was hosting a show. The location was the Universal Bar and Grill in North Hollywood, CA.  There was a sick line up of eight bands, all of which were superbly amazing. A few bands completely blew me away, one was The Wendolls, whom I have been waiting to see for a while. These four young musicians are exceptionally talented.

The band has intense stage energy and throws every ounce of it into their performance. Mariana Perez, the lead vocalist and guitarist, reminds me of a cross between Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette, with a little flavor of Gwen Stefani. However when the band covered the song Barracuda by Heart, they completely blew me away. I am always intrigued by killer guitar riffs, and this young woman can definitely shred and riff on the guitar.

The rest of the band consists of Hunter Loffredo-Drummer, Eden Perkins-Lead Guitar, and Lucca Holtz-Bassist. Killer guitar and bass riffs, complemented by Hunter’s intensity while ripping it up on the Drum kit. The set list was also killer. Like I said above the cover of “Barracuda” was pure fire, but the rest of the set consisted of original songs by the band, including “Why”, “Ridicule”, and “Select” among others. They also covered the song “Working Man” by Rush.

As a whole, the band reminds me of a mix of No Doubt, and My Chemical Romance. I completely wasn’t expecting to walk away as a new fan, but they definitely have one now, and I can’t wait to see them again, and watch them soar.
