L.D. 50 was the band’s debut studio album, arriving in August 2000 via Epic Records. On this tour they were supported by Static-X with Vended opening. First band on the bill hails from Iowa and is called Vended. “Like father, like son” proverb applies to the Vended in all of its glory. The band features two members who are sons of members of Slipknot: singer Griffin Taylor is the son of Corey Taylor, and drummer Simon Crahan is the son of Shawn “Clown” Crahan. Just this fact alone peaked my interest in the band. Now, not to take anything away from the younger generation, they are the force in metal on their own right. They have some similarities with their fathers band bot musically and with stage appearance, though both the fathers and sons deny any collaboration. You can feel that they are no strangers to the heavy music and on stage persona carries a sense of a seasoned band rather than beginners. I liked their performance and believe that they will carve their own name in the metal music history. Griffin really great at the vocals and is 100% immersed in a moment, you can’t see much of the Simon behind the drums, but he is really good at what he does. Other guys have stepped up in their roles as well. Overall Vended are very heavy and aggressive and a must see experience for all metal fans.

Their setlist contained the songs – Nihilism, Ded to Me, Am I the Only One, The Far Side, Pitiful and Asylum.

Next ones up were Industrial metal mainstays Static-X. I could write a novel here about everything that has transpired with this band before and after the breakup and before and after the death of Wayne Static, but all of you already know that. I will also not dwell in to the identity of Xer0 being Edsel Dope. Besides Xer0 the band consists of Tony Campos on bass, Ken Jay on drums and Koichi Fukuda on lead guitar.

After cleared that out of the way, let’s talk the show. It started very Halloween like, with a giant pumpkin head monster walking out on the stage just to turn his head and become evil self. Static-X employed a few stage stage puppets later in the show as well. Xer0 as always thrilled us with the electrifying mask, and his red eyes glowing in the dark. Multiple screens created the perfect industrial feel.

The band mostly played the songs from their breakout 2001 album Wisconsin Death Trip. Only one song came out of the new era – Terminator Oscillator, taken from 2020 album Project: Regeneration Vol. 1.

Unofficial set from their performance is something like this – Bled for Days,
Wisconsin Death Trip, Fix, Terminator Oscillator, Love Dump, I Am, The Trance Is the Motion, Black and White, Get to the Gone, Dirthouse, Cold, I’m With Stupid and Push It.

Similarly to Static-X, the nights main attraction Mudvayne was on hiatus for a good portion of this millennia. The band reunited back in 2021 and has been touring since with all original members at the helm – Chad Gray [vocals], Greg Tribbett [guitar], Ryan Martinie [drums], and Matthew McDonough [drums]. The has yet to release a new album, but recently released two singles Hurt People Hurt People and Sticks And Stones. We covered both releases in our magazine you can read here and here.

The band is one of the kind. They experiment with music, their stage outfits, masks and face paints. Mudvayne live performance is unlike any other band. Heavy music with meaningful lyrics about pain and desperation. Mudvayne is unique and unrivaled.

On this tour the focus goes to their debut album L.D. 50. Band played nine songs from their monumental album while touching the few songs from other releases. Band did play one of their new songs Sticks And Stones. Between -1 and Severed band’s vocalist Chad Gray went on a long monologue about togetherness through heavy metal and supporting each other and the importance of the metal show for all our well being. I could not agree more. This is an elixir for the soul.

As with Static-X I was not keeping up with all songs but singling out my favorites, so here is unofficial setlist for a night – Dig, Internal Primates Forever, -1, Severed, Death Blooms, Golden Ratio, Cradle, Under My Skin, Prod, Nothing to Gein, Dull Boy, Sticks and Stones, World So Cold, Determined, Not Falling and Happy?.
