The annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) was conducted this past week in LA. This is a cool awards event that recognizes musical content in today’s media that includes TV & Film, video games, commercials, music videos and even theme parks. The full spectrum of artists are represented that includes the usual big-name artists and composers such as multi-award winning Diane Warren, Andrew Watt, Elton and Brandi, Lady Gaga as well as a healthy dose of contributors for short films, art house films, documentaries and more. The mix of content is always quite interesting and highlights a lot of the programs we all know but also highlights a world of content not as commonly known but definitely worth checking out.
The whole premise of the HMMA is less corporate driven than other major award shows and definitively more artist & peer driven. Also this awards show is accessible to the general public and not cost prohibitive to attend for a great evening of entertainment. The show itself is always a mix of live entertainment, typically including HMMA winners and nominees as well as major established artists. And in usual awards show fashion we see nominees, winners and acceptance speeches by the winners. A post-show party at the attached Bardot Club upstairs provides a cool post-show party where all can mingle and celebrate.
