19h30. The lights went down, and the opener of the night, RedHook, stepped onto the stage as the air thickened with anticipation. Their set was bold and playful, a vivid teaser of what was yet to come. Amidst the instruments, bubbles floated across the stage and into the crowd, a whimsical touch contrasting the band’s raw energy. Vocalist Emmy Mack changed costumes throughout the set, as if telling a story through each look; every song had its own character, every transition felt deliberate. RedHook set the mood: restless, alive, teetering on the edge. The tension was at its peak when As December Falls finally took over after a fiery forty-minute opener.

They ignited the room entirely, opening with Burn It All Down followed by their recent single Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine. The crowd, already burning from RedHook’s spark, gave it all back, with a mosh pit opening during Carousel and throughout the night, and a wall of death cracking through the room. A few daring souls even crowd-surfed, lifted by the swelling roar of voices all around them.

Midway through the set, the band slowed things down with a short acoustic section, softer and lighter, but still charged with that unmistakable As December Falls spirit, holding the audience captive in both silence and chaos.

Visually, their stage presence was magnetic, especially Bethany and Ande, whose energy carried the show. The lighting cast them in sharp silhouettes, sometimes separating them into pools of color and shadow that created that perfect mix of mystery and closeness only found in small venues like Backstage by the Mill. Their chemistry was undeniable: glances, synchronized movements, and a confidence that made every transition seamless.

The crowd wasn’t just watching, they were part of it. They screamed, jumped, and sang as if there would be no tomorrow. And when the closing notes of the deeply personal Therapy echoed through the room, a soft silence slowly settled in. A few fans lingered, hesitant to break the spell. The band waved one last time before disappearing backstage.

No As December Falls members appeared at the merch table since they had met a few fans earlier during a pre-show VIP session. But RedHook stayed behind, signing, chatting, and taking pictures with both old and newly won fans.

This first night in Paris was more than a concert, it was a long-awaited meeting between a band and the people who had been waiting to scream their lyrics back at them. The rest of the tour will take them to new cities and eventually bigger rooms, but last night, Paris got the first and purest taste of what As December Falls truly are.
